D1 Commitments 2011-2012

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

Hey I'm a fan but 30 is crazy. Almost seems like he's not sure what he's got. Weren't they a top 10 team most of the year?

I've stated this before about Minny and all the forwards. Most players will not be happy.

No team needs 30 players unless they have a JV team.

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

Yes, As a fan of Minnesota hockey I'm very happy that he's getting back to recuiting Minnesota girls but I see a serious log jam up front. It will be very hard to keep players happy as all incoming girls will expect to play. Not much room on the PP for the next 3 years for these players.

I value your opinion Brooky. What's your take.

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

In articles from the Grand Forks Herald Marvin and Jensen mentioned redshirting their freshman year. I would think that would apply to Kaiser and a few others.

I wouldn't question what was printed in the GF Herald...but I do find that surprising in the case of Miss Marvin. When Idalski speaks of a lack of depth last season I would think Marvin is a player he'd want in the line-up immediately. Didn't another high profile UND recruit recently decide to attend college and play elsewhere?

I believe you're referring to:

Vermont
Klara Myren ................F ............(Swedish National Team)................Gustavs, Sweden

If I remember correctly, she committed before she made the national team so things may have changed with her. She certainly proved she can play when she got the chance with the National team. That said, I can see her red shirting to keep together a very strong group of girls that have a lot of good chemistry. She played a lot of summer hockey with Jensen, Kaiser, and Shelby Amsley-Benzie. Add in 2012 recruit D Sam Hanson (another summer teammate), 2013 recruit Kayla Gardner (warroad teammate) and 2013 recruit (sister) Lisa Marvin there's good reason to wait a year. All these girls know each other very well and have played many games together.

Well that makes some sense. The Warroad team had some good chemistry. I'm not familiar with Jensen, Kaiser or Hanson. Always thought highly of Gardner's skill.

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

Brooky, you should at least be familiar with Hanson, she has been the main reason the Bears have owned your Ponies these past couple years.

Stillwater 3, White Bear Lake 2, result from the meeting last Feb. Does losing constitute owning? :)

I always given that honor to either goalies or high scoring forwards in my mind. No indication of domination by any one person here

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

Sam Hansen is a fine player, but to say she has "owned" anybody is a major overstatement. Early signer but but just another example of UND taking players on rep rather than acutal dominance.

Brooky that might be the case if you only looking at that the one game (very convenient) I was referring to the 3 previous games that the Bears won.:)
...and definitely not referring to the most recent outcome...because that would interfere with your claim of ownership. Went back and looked at results from past 3-4 seasons...still not seeing any results that indicate WBL "owning" Stillwater. This is the wrong thread for this discussion but it's also rather convenient to overlook those results while making your claim to ownership by the Bears. Apparently we shouldn't consider WBL losses to Stillwater in our assessment of recent outcomes between the two? Maybe those games didn't count in the SEC standings. ;) I could say the Ponies owned the Bears in one recent season, or another...when they swept the season series, but I won't.

I apologize for not being familiar with Miss Hanson. I'm a bad person. :)

I'll lighten up, but I still take your post as a brag up. I said shes a fine player. Im quite familiar with the SEC. She or WBL hasnt "owned" anyone except maybe Forest Lake.

Re: D1 Commitments 2011-2012

Yawn... Please stick to the thread topic, thanks.
You should really get more sleep; this is at least the 3rd time in the last couple of weeks that you've been yawning through your attempts at playing thread police defending the world from off-season digressions.

Rugrat: I've not reponded to many threads........you're yawmsss are quite boing..........are you the man that has is all?

Wow, never was it my intent to illicit this level of discussion or to commit the seemingly dastardly offense of moving the discussion off topic. Please except my deepest apologies as I am applying the Cilice to my thigh at this very moment as punishment for my sins. If truth be told my only real offense was to draw undue an unwarrented attention to the player. For that I am truly sorry. I only mentioned her as orientation to illustrate a harmless reference, but judging by your defensive response(s) I think I may have hit nerve. To which I am surprisingly amused. Go Bears!
Oh by the way this player doesn’t need me or anyone else for that matter, to “brag her up” (Still a Clown).:D
