Re: D-III All-Americans Watch

With Stefan out w/broken wrist, it probably dooms his chances for first team, maybe even 2nd. I also believe you'll see Kyle Thomas on the list somewhere.

I really don't think Thomas will make it. He doesn't have the numbers to support it and has been too inconsistent this season.

Schroeder, Janke, Anderson, and Cotnoir are probably all more deserving. There is no doubt the Wizard of Waltham is the most dynamic player on the team and probably one of the big X factors...But, I just don't see an AA for him this year.

Why?

He is not even averaging a point a game this season. I'm sorry, but that just isn't going to cut it. He probably won't even be on the all-league team, which is a pre-rec for all-american. Skating fast and running all over the ice does not make you an AA. There are many NU forwards that have had much better all-around seasons.

The player I would like to see recognized is Greg Eskedjian. Great d-man in my opinion. He's put up terrific numbers as well. Even he has more points than #15 from the back end.

How soon we forget the Kyle Thomas 3 goal game against Middlebury a couple of weeks ago; one of the most dominate performances by a D3 forward in a big game I have seen this year.

One game doesn't make a season. Having a great game in a big game doesn't give you AA status. This actually helps Prez's argument that he has been inconsistent this year.

He may the most talented player on the ice at any given time, but the most talented player doesn't always get the awards. You win awards based on your play, not your talent...

Agreed. I would even take that one step further. I would say that the ability to show up consistently with your best effort is part of a player's talent set.

Yes, because clearly I forgot about it.

Kyle is by far and way the most dynamic player on this team and maybe one of the best if not the best in D-III. There isn't a defender or player that can stop him when he's on. IE the Middlebury game this year.

However, as Ozz said, one game doesn't make a season and Kyle hasn't done what he did in the Middlebury game in every other game.

Schroeder and Cotnoir would get more looks at AA than Thomas. Cotnoir has a great chance if he keeps up the tear he is on.

First, I like Kyle, and think he can be one of the better players to come out of DIII. But I'll agree with Prez, if the shirker known as hawk had a clue, it would be his first. Kyle had a great game against Midd at least in part because he was on the fourth line, not the first or second. Midd's depth is a little suspect this year, and it allowed Kyle more room to manuever.

Marty Lee

Marty Lee

Lee was chosen as the ECAC/W defensive player of the year. HERE is the local TV station report .... of course the ECAC site still has last season's news as the top headline. Go figure. They've already written off the ECAC/W.

Re: D-III All-Americans Watch

Since he returned from his injury, Brock Sawyer has been rock solid on D for Elmira.

Re: D-III All-Americans Watch

Another quick question: does the AHCA require First Team All-Conference status for First-Team All-Americans? I know this has come up in the past; complaints surrounding Niklas Sundberg's getting stuck at Second Team All-SUNYAC, and subsequently Second Team All-American are the first that spring to mind, but I'm sure there are plenty of more recent cases. Or is this simply how things have naturally shaken out, given that the top players in the country will, in the vast majority of cases, tend to be First Team All-Conference anyway?

Re: D-III All-Americans Watch

Certainly D-man Will Lacasse from Neumann should be in the conversation. 10th in the ECAC West in scoring, as a D-man.
