Covfefe-19 The 12th Part: The Only Thing Worse Than This New Board Is TrumpVirus2020

Off the top of my head I suspect that the fact this is a EUA muddies the water on mandating it for health care workers.

Otherwise I am fully on board for mandating vaccines. I got into it in the past with some idiot posters on here (?Bob Grey) re mandating flu vaccines. There is good evidence that health systems with tight mandates have lower influenza morbidity and mortality. I look it as the same thing as I have to wash my hands before interacting with patients.

Interesting, I didn’t even think about the EUA coming into play on that front. The little I’ve read said they could, and didn’t mention the EUA, which means next to nothing for the whole, accurate picture. Like Handy pointed out, a lot of places probably aren’t even trying at this point. My really quick perusal turned up nothing, which, again, means next to nothing for the whole, accurate picture.

Lot more mask wearing and social distancing than the last few events on the Capitol and WH grounds....

And almost everyone on that stage has received at least the first course of the vaccine. You have to assume everyone was actually tested (negative) AND they were all wearing masks for the vast, vast, vast majority of the time. Outdoors.

Horsehockey. There were 59 alleged cases of arthritis out of 1.4 million doses of Lymerix administered (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2870557/). Media hype suppressed demand to the point that SmithKlineBeecham voluntarily pulled it. There is no way that health providers are considering that event, objectively weighing the benefits and the risks, and are making a rational choice to refuse the vaccine.

Health providers have fear-driven lizard brains, the same as most of the population.
You said "All those other vaccine rollouts that they have seen go wrong? Oh, wait - no, they didn’t see that because it never happened." My comment was accurate- they recalled both the vaccines I mentioned. I didn't comment on the cause of recall or whether they were correct to recall. That is irrelevant. They recalled them after releasing them to the public with a lot of hype. Not too many people will spend the time to research all the stuff behind the decision. They only remember the recall happened. In the case of Lymerix there was a huge hard sell push to get it out to the public in my area. When it was no longer available people were left wanting and doubting the system.

So, no. It wasn't lizard brain. It was a comment on the actual event that happened- not fear driven- that left some of my John Q Public patients with a distrust of the system.

Edit- and for those who have been around awhile- we also had the time after 9/11 where there were concerns someone would weaponize small pox and they were considering a vaccine campaign for that- then people got ahold of the stats for serious reactions- 1:787 (or something close to that). I have to admit I was shocked at the number when they were disseminating info to us preemptively. Obviously when I was little people didn't think about things like that. Everyone over a 'certain age' has the scar. That and to get smallpox was NOT pretty and the outcome of that was even worse. There was a very public debate about whether they should vaccinate, if it was safe etc

I heard recently on a pod about how they overcame transport issues for the smallpox vaccine (which was to get cowpox) 200 years ago. They loaded up about 20 little orphan toddlers in Spain, got two of them sick with cowpox, and passed the disease down the cabins/cages on a schedule until they got to the new world with 2 sick kids and 18 pocked ones. Then started bleeding puss from the last two to ensicken the colonists.
we have it pretty good now with aero planes and fridges and stuff.

I can't find the Tweet now, I think it was a CBS News reporter who documented the process to get into the WH for a press briefing, and she said the biggest difference she noticed already was how organized the Biden administration was for testing. Every credentialed WH reporter, even those who are not going to be in the building daily, are scheduled for regular COVID testing. She said they were "a little more aggressive with the swabs" than the prior administration in testing, there were now spots on the floor to mark out where 6' was, and they had an orderly way of getting people in, tested, and out quickly. She said that she's heard that testing is going to be much more stringent throughout the WH.

I posted that here :-)

Lost in the hoopla today: 4374 dead. God that is a big number...

On the plus side (temporary silver lining?) the 7-day average for new cases has dropped every day since January 11th - the 2nd longest continuous drop going back to early August. Obviously we cannot say if we're going to see that continue but fingers crossed.

btw I have a suggestion for anyone that rolls Q or Parler forums. Suggest that if people want to tarnish Biden's first 100 days, all the MAGAs should host super-spreader parties but they need to ensure no liberals are invited. That will show them!

For the first time ever we have competent people at the top of the process.

It will be awful but for the first time now we have people who actually want to solve the problem, not just hide it.

Dump left dozens of Mini Mes who will each be holding rallies to gather and fleece their derps. Problem solves itself.

The only thing is to shut down the schools so their piglets don't have contact with our children, but so many of them are locked up in Christian Sharia Home School it may not even be a problem.
