Talked to a neighbor who is a teacher for a pretty poor school- where almost all of the students get food for the day- many of them get all 3 meals through school. They are really working hard to make sure that the food is still accessible to the students, which is good.

Also, during the same run we talked, saw a sign for a food and supply drive- so next trip to the grocery store, if it's stocked up, we are going to buy stuff and donate it. We are both fortunate to be able to work from home and still get paid- we can help the less fortunate. Even if they are employed by people who can far, far better afford to pay them but refuse to. If anything should illustrate the POS's that most rich people are- just look at the people who are not getting paid for their time off- and who could be paying them. It's interesting to see so many professional athletes donate money to pay the arena workers when the owner is way more wealthy than they are, and easily have the means to pay all of them for the short time they will be off.

Whoever came up with that list after 9-11 is the one to be blamed, not the media.

Mom has been quarantining for a few weeks now. The only people she's interacted with are me and health professionals. She has gone to the ER twice in the past week with breathing problems. She tested negative for Covid-19. It's severe asthma, and yesterday was a bad reaction to a new dose of prednisone. I have been to vote, been to caucus, been to the bank and go to the pharmacy to get her medicine but other than that I'm staying in too. We have been using the To Go feature at Hannaford for groceries ($5 and they shop for you and deliver it to your car; only interaction is when you pay outside the store) but when she tried to put in an order this morning she found that every spot for the weekend was full and I won't be able to pick up the order until Monday morning. Luckily we have lots of soups and oatmeal already because of my restricted diet. And we have a good pharmacist who saw that the prescription for her inhaler is due 3/23 so he went ahead and filled it early so that will be one less trip for me.

He's very funny. His stuff on the lead up to Brexit was brilliant. Unfortunately his credibility took a hit when he was starting out. Russia Today threw a lot of money at him and gave him a 6-month contract. He was struggling and needed the money so he took it. The UK media won't forgive him.

Saw something today that was spot on.
If you are willing to be prepared, follow the strictures of social distancing you are labeled reactionary.
If the measures are successful you will hear I told you so.

Messaging is starting to change. Multiple media outlets are now sharing statements from hospitals in their areas quoting projected need vs actual beds. Not sure this will reach the denier types but the numbers are freaking scary for my state and we are hospital/medical overloaded.

Conversations yesterday (continuing with badgering today- being a wifey is so fun!!)

mr les works at a college- they are not completely shutting things like wt room, gym facilities because ? Obviously there is no legitimate reason to keep these things open when you are supposed to be staying away from each other BUT they need to deal with the athletes need to work out. NO THEY DO NOT. There is no legit reason to open a place that will be full of fomites. They are telling them to clean up after themselves by wiping down. 'Do you expect everyone to stop their lives?you can't make people do that!!' Are you fvcking kidding me?

mr les is 60, I am close and the 3 people in the house have asthma. (lets find a few more boxes to check) We are invited to 2 parties this weekend. Both have people who come from wide areas. Both are still proceeding. Both will have lots of finger food and drinking (inhibits immune system). We all know but there are some in my house who won't accept) there is no way to know who has been exposed or is infected.

I am not going.

mr les decides he won't go the bigger party because the woman of the couple travels internationally. BUT the neighborhood party is OK because it is JUST the neighborhood and their extended group of friends. They are all >60, retired and they won't have had a place to catch it. The neighborhood party is currently group texting making fun of people who are being cautious. Joking about the precautions and generally showing no comprehension they are the highest risk. These people are in the highest risk group, all of them are involved with their kids, grandkids, some of them are smokers and have health issues. Part of me wishes I could be so ignorant. It would be useless to try to educate them. I know if I chime in and say I am not going even if I am not ridiculed out loud I will be the source of much amusement and derision for saying no.

Phew. I needed to rant somewhere

Those 2 words- JUST and BUT are going to kill a lot of people. BUT I don't want to stop doing what I like... I can't tell people no ...its not fair I have to change all of my life. Its JUST this one little thing. It won't count. You can't take everything away from me.

Germs don't give a rat's a55 for JUST and BUT. They don't negotiate. Is it too much to ask to delay your gratification for a little while so that the people most at risk aren't put at more risk than necessary?
