What awaits the Big Green in Ithaca this Friday?
This will be our first regular season game. Hoping to make the trip.
I hope an *** wooping!
In all seriousness, I was/am viewing the Big Green as the early season favorite to win the ECAC. You have most of your weapons from last year returning and a very nice freshman class. With that said Clarkson has charged out of the gate with more force than I was anticipating. The transfer of Thibault certainly is helping their cause. I expect Harvard to drop a couple of rungs with vaillancourt finally graduated, but somehow they usually exceed my expectations in years I expect them to be down.
Our defense is by far the best I've seen in the last 10 years. The addition of Rougeau and Fortino is huge.
A few comments.
1 - IMHO Clarkson will take a serious run at Final Four this year. The early going indicates they will be the team to beat in the ECAC.
2 - The usual suspects SLU, Harvard will be the main challengers. With their excellent adds on D expect Cornell to join that fray, but the absence of RJ hursts up front.
3 - Cornell's two Rookie D adds are IMHO simply the best 90 D and 91 D recruits out of Canada. Not surprised at your glorious comments about them.
4 - Next year when Jenner and Johnston join/re-join the Big Red ranks, they might just be the team to beat in the ECAC. (Although Harvard appears to be recruiting quite the lineup on D as we speak).
As you can tell. I'm now following the ECAC closer than before.
Looking forward to tomorrow's Dartmouth matchup at Cornell tomorrow.
Does the womens' hockey team have a large fan base supporting the Big Red?
Other scores of interest...
Clarkson 0, Brown 0 after 1
SLU 2, Harvard 0
Final Score 3-0 Cornell. Fortino scored unassisted in the 3rd. Final shots were 33-22 Cornell. And thus ends a 19 (or there abouts) game winless streak against the big green. Mazzotta with the shut out.
Looks like the rookie crop already making a difference. Cornell looks to be a serious candidate for a top four ECAC finish.
