Cornell Big Red Women's hockey 2009-2010

Re: Cornell Big Red Women's hockey 2009-2010

Congratulations to Cornell on their first ECAC championship. Hopefully we'll see you in the NCAA finals. :D

Tremendous season. Ivy League, ECAC RS, and ECAC Tournament champs. This program has come a long way over the last 4 years.

Re: Cornell Big Red Women's hockey 2009-2010

Congrats to the Big Red! Good luck in the NCAA!! Make the ECAC proud!!

Well, Cornell will be traveling to Harvard for the first round of NCAAs. The good news is we have yet to lose to Harvard this season AND Cornell and Harvard fans can immediately go back to not supporting each other.

And that's what wrong with a statistical method.
Cornell wins the league, Harvard doesn't...
Cornell makes it to the conference final, Harvard doesn't...
Cornell wins the conference tournament, Harvard doesn't...
Cornell wins the season series, Harvard doesn't...
Harvard hosts Cornell in the NCAA...

Where is the full bracket? I promise I looked around first.

Good point! Cornell's non-conference record really hurt them. The statistical model doesn't put * next to the three non-conference losses while 3 players were off with the CND U-22s or the late Ivy start date with two opening losses to Mercyhurst.

Re: Cornell Big Red Women's hockey 2009-2010

Never mind:

Boston Univ. @ #1 Mercyhurst
Cornell @ #4 Harvard

New Hampshire @ #2 Minnesota-Duluth
Clarkson @ #3 Minnesota

Re: Cornell Big Red Women's hockey 2009-2010

1) Mercyhurst hosts BU
2) UMD hosts UNH
3) UMinn hosts Clarkson
4) Harvard hosts Cornell

Thanks. (Got it, but appreciate it).

It's like lax, where they don't "seed" the bottom 4, I guess? Because Cornell at 5 sounds better than anybody expected.

So the secret lies in smarter scheduling. They will have players missing to U22 again next year. Last I checked, Cornell had the biggest contingent with three and they might have as many as six next year, as three coming in next year (this includes RJ) are all clear U22 material.

I think the team out performed everyone's expectations this year. With the number of players that could be absent for 4 Nations next year, I hope they'll schedule around that weekend. Opening against Mercyhurst was tough, but I think it gave Cornell an edge going into Dartmouth and Harvard the next weekend.

On a side note, great to see that this afternoon's game had an attendance of 1,528!
