Cops: Nothing has fundamentally changed.

About ten years or so ago, the state police version of a SWAT team were outside a house near my old place with a warrant to arrest a guy. They spent like six hours or more outside the house, telling him to come out over a loudspeaker. Didn't dare to try to go in.

House turned out to be empty.

Good god:

If the races were reversed they would have "illegally" no knocked and shot him. Them pretending this has anything to do with the rhetoric around policing is such a joke they never stopped doing what they did to get in trouble in the first place. Harder to justify murdering a White Man in his home to a jury of (mostly) White People I guess.

As for the victim blaming...well what do you expect when this is your Chef:

Moriarty sucks but this is disgusting. Because of political beefs you’re going to neither protect nor serve a citizen that’s reached out to you directly for assistance?

I’m forced to say it again. The MPD is a mob with pensions.

For a long time they basically flaunted they were the Mob...the "Gang Task Force" was straight up organized crime.

So they didn't "No Knock" him and shoot him within 1.5 seconds of walking through the door? Sounds about White...

I am actually surprised they didn't show up at the the victims house "by accident" and kill him and then blame him for it.

I just feel for that entire neighborhood. The cops already don’t bother to help any people because of a tantrum, and it will somehow get worse

they are like a guy who beats his wife and blames her for making him. “You turned on us and now we don’t do our jobs cause we might go to jail”

The MPD has been pouting ever since people started demanding they do their job and stop murdering people after George Floyd. Hundreds "retired" using a myriad of excuses, but I think it's safe to say they felt their carte blanche way of handling the public was quickly coming to an end.

I have no idea what it's going to take to improve the overall situation not only with the frequency of some of the crimes that spiked after Floyd, as well as adequately staffing MPD with competent trainees, putting in leadership that knows what they're doing, and finally serving the community first rather than themselves.

Funny how Trump won my county in Michigan by a big margin, but the police millage failed so the county is discontinuing night services. I thought the Trumpers were all for funding the police. Weird.

"When seconds count, the police are only minutes away" has been a favorite saying of 2A nuts for as long as I can remember.

Police in Idaho show up to an autistic boy in crisis. Shoot him 9 times. Currently in critical condition after having a leg amputated.

Boy apparently had a small kitchen knife in hand. But there was a fence between him and everyone else. Also, according to the family, he has a physical impairment as well making walking difficult. Yet, 4 officers just lined up and as soon as he stood up, opened fire. A neighbor got the incident on video (at the link). Looks like one was using a shotgun. By my count, it was about 8 seconds from the time the 1st cop arrived at the fence until they opened fire.

Shouldn’t have brought a knife to a gun fight.

In all seriousness, this is tragic. Depending on the level of autism this child has, it could be next to impossible to communicate with him. Four police officers versus a physically crippled autistic child. I’m trained how to dodge/counter aggressive children. Are these fuckers not? Take him down, take the knife out of his hand, have him sent to a nearby inpatient facility for an evaluation. He’s swinging a knife at people. He’ll meet criteria for homicidal ideation/intent. Get him on some medication, adjust the medications he may already be on, get a referral sent in for ABA therapy. It’s a lot of hard work, sure, but I’d say it’s a better outcome for everyone involved than crippling him more. And shot nine times by four officers? Each officer shot not once, but twice from point blank range? What say you, Drew?
