Cops: No Snarky Nor Positive Title

Ive often wondered how he would handle the last four years. I don't think he would have handled it well.
But really, who has? I think you’d need the wisdom and moral fortitude of a Joe Biden to say you’ve handled the Age of Dump well. It’s like 4 people.

Old Pio would have been unbearable with the Pandemic and the Election. You guys sound like the people who now are in the mood to look back with fondness on Dubya.

Dubya is a much better former POTUS than he was an actual POTUS. He seems like a genuinely good man these days, but he was shit as a leader.

Maybe time has just added a rosy tint to my glasses, but Old Pio was way better than Sik. Old Pio was at least well read and well informed and put forward actual positions supported by fairly cogent, if misguided, logic and supporting evidence. By comparison, Sik is just a muckraking gadfly.

I'm pretty sure I met OP back when I went to a couple of games in Denver when I was out for work...

The impression I was getting was not a good one. Much better fans to hang out with that were part of this board.

An interesting take on how to weed out bad cops...

(For those averse to TikTok, a suggestion that cops have professional liability insurance and their rates go up when they f*ck up.)

I'm not commenting from relevant experience here, but one tricky side of that could be that professional liability insurance is primarily designed to protect against negligence claims. In fact, policies often exclude coverage for intentional acts or even recklessness, depending on the level of culpability. Couple that with the fact that governmental officials are often protected by qualified immunity (depending on the claim and the conduct (for instance, whether it is a 1983 due process action) and are quite likely not personally liable for mere negligence, the thing liability insurance is designed to cover.

That said. insurance is just a contract, though in a regulated industry, so there would be some room to alter or expand coverages on that side of things.

I guess I meant that I think it was better than 50:50 he goes way, way off the deep end and loses touch with reality.

his trade was rabble radio in AZ. That almost certainly would have required him to go full Trump.

I think we need to be careful about lumping in honest people with the Q idiots. I don't know Sic and won't speak for him and I'm using this purely as a jumping off point.

That said, I think it's incredibly easy to see someone born into the sort of white middle class world (the one I was born into), but hasn't ventured out much, who has never seen anything approaching inner cities, or hasn't really educated themselves on the realities that non-whites face. Honest questions born out of ignorance do not equal malice, and I think that by dunking on them and calling them nazis all we do is push them to that side - or at best alienate them from said education.

In some ways I see people like Sic as WORSE than your average Qanon moron. If you were born into a middle or upper class situation you likely had an opportunity to learn the value and benefit of critical thinking and openmindedness, whereas many of the Q idiots are not so lucky.

As for pushing them off to the side and alienating them, who cares? If the choices were engage and find middle ground and areas of cooperation, great, engage and move the world forward. But the last generation or so has shown that not to be the case. At all. How many times does someone need to touch the burner on the stove to realize it is hot? How many times does someone need to bruise their brain before they realize they need to stop pushing the Q-tip forward when they feel resistance? Right-wingers have proven themselves to be -- without a doubt and too few exceptions to care about -- as dangerous, close minded and evil. We've crossed the point of no return with at leasdt a third of the population. I can only hope and pray nature takes care of these people. Who knows, maybe that's what covid is for. In another 6 months or so, 95% of those who get it are going to be in the Ted Nugent camp. I'll weep for the other 5% who don't deserve to suffer.

I agree. Old Pio was one of only three people I ever put on ignore (well one of two if you assume Jeb and flaggy are one and the same).

Has this been established?

What little I saw of Jeb before Ignoring he seemed like just another mindless GOP derp, like those guys who parachute in from the D-1 board. Flaggy though was a special kind of insane -- I'm certain Flaggy went full Q.

Jeb seemed like another fungible Ted Cruz punchable face. Flaggy was MTG batsh-t cazy.

I'm willing to admit I may have simply confused Pio with Bob. They both had Chestertonian "I'm explaining Christianity to you for the good of your own soul" pomposity. I remember they were both old, but one of them was quirky in an interesting way. Which is the one who always on about the Tridentine Mass? I liked that obsession (seeing I have it myself).

If someone is being really honest in "just asking questions" at this point, they are also willingly being ignorant. To not recognize serious power problems that have been going on for hundreds of years is just ignoring a real problem. Cops have been perpetuating the race power card of the last few centuries since they have been formed. To even pretend that the non-shooting interactions with cops are all "ok" just brushes that under the rug.

They may not directly be nazis, but they are also the same people who didn't do anything to stop them- ever. You can decide how bad that is.

Flaggy went Q before anyone knew what Q was. He was an Alex Jones acolyte.

But Sic doesn't ask ' honest questions'. He feigns innocence as to what he's doing as 'just asking the question' when all he's really doing is just more of the rightwing nut job owning the libs shtick.
