Cops: No Snarky Nor Positive Title

Would someone explain to cops that it is not illegal to refuse a search on a basic traffic stop...

Knee to the back...fucking dickless losers.

Can they do a search when he has a history of narcotics offenses, was observed leaving a house that was under observation for drug sales, and has $20,000 in cash sitting next to him?

Your hypothetical duly noted.

Are you saying that's what happened here?

That would not be a routine traffic stop...

Jesus, what a ridiculous statement. Even if this guy was doing exactly what they accused him of doing (and honestly, he probably was), this is outrageous behavior by the police.

Why are all these cops always on some big power trip? You have the gun. You have the car stopped. Find another way. That should be the fun part. You get to use your brain to deescalate situations and make them safe for everyone.

There are some people who will just always support cops beating or shooting perps, regardless of the alleged crime(s) or the situation. I don't understand or accept it, but such people will always exist.

The guy had a bag - a BAG! - on his floorboards. What were the cops supposed to do?

I think I've located the problem.

You caught him. SJ was wrong about this. It was $22,450

Ok so they then can search his car...leave that point out now.

Do you think they followed "procedure" with how they detained him?

Do you think if he was White and all factors were the same he gets treated as such?

Even if you suppose he committed the crime they assume he did that does not excuse their behavior. The fact that half this country seems to think it does (with certain other demographic factors in play) is fucking unnerving. Hell conservatives should be double pissed...the cops have been given way too much power over the people.

It appeared that many here felt that SJ pulled his "facts" out of his anal orifice. It didn't fit their narrative so it couldn't be factual, only hypothetical. I simply pointed out that the facts SJ stated were actually reported in a local paper as he said (other than getting the dollar amount wrong [Wink Emoji]). My post was not intended to be a comment about the police (FWIW, based on the limited information that I have, I think that they probably crossed the line) but rather one on cognitive bias.

Except SJ said, “had $20,000 in cash sitting next to him,” implying that the money was visible upon a cursory glance. It wasn’t. It was in a bag on the floor. Seeing a bag on the floor does not give the cops probable cause to search the vehicle. At least in Florida, the evidence has to be “noticeably present” (I.e. in plain sight) to trigger a search.

There are innocent people in this country who have been victimized by very bad cops. Those victims deserve our sympathy and support, and the cops deserve the full weight of the punishment we can bring down on them.

This guy in Ohio was not one of those victims. He is a man with gun and narcotics offenses on his record, seen leaving a local crack house, and caught with $20,000+ in cash in a bag that he claims is his "savings" and which triggers a response from drug sniffing dogs. This is a bad guy who is using his paraplegia and the general disdain for cops that has been created in this country to get himself out of a bad situation.

See, here's where you've gone wrong. GUILTY people also should not be victimized by very bad cops. The physical response of the cops should be based solely on the danger to people involved in the situation (including the alleged perpetrator, bystanders, and cops), and NOT based on the innocence or guilt of the subjects.

This guy didn't get beat up. He didn't get shot. He didn't get abused.

They drug him out of his car after he refused a lawful command to exit the vehicle. You don't get to disobey a demand to exit the vehicle. Even when you are a paraplegic.

Dragging someone out of their car is never pretty. This wasn't pretty either.

Did they put their knee in his back cause they thought he would jump up on his hands and run away? They knew he was a paraplegic that is ridiculous. They overstepped and he will get paid for it.

You don't get to treat criminals (if you assume he is guilty) like dogs just cause they are criminals.

Sure, string him up then. Who needs a trial? Should've let the cops blow him away or choke him to death a la George Floyd and save some taxpayer money.
