What does this have to do with anything? This isn't like Subway where if you get your card punched six times, you get a free murder.

It has to do with the current situation of cops being attacked/cops attacking people. It's not rocket science. Right now, cops are most definitely in the crosshairs, figuratively and literally.

Interesting that he didn't think twice about blowing away cops when anyone around him could have had a gun on them.

In the US, you typically do not kill several people and/or police and get off free. Someone who's ready to pull out a gun and shoot someone doesn't care about ramifications. They all are fine with a one way trip.

We've done the freely available guns for years now...and with downward spiraling results. When do we try serious gun control?

Again, the logistics. There are far too many illegal guns here already, we are not an island (the importing into Chicago stance), and our society/culture in America is quite more violent than most countries.

Everyone understands it's a dangerous job, and any time something like that happens, it's a tragedy. That said, I would hope, and certainly have every reason to believe the perpetrator of the crime will be held fully accountable for their actions. This thread pertains to issues where perpetrators of crimes are not held accountable for their actions, specifically because they are police. No amount of violence towards police justifies officers sworn to protect violating the civil rights or taking the life of an innocent/undeserving citizen.

And the aftermath of that is that presumably good cops are now being attacked. StL is one, there was another shooter in Tennessee retaliatiing, which accomplishes nothing. It's all related, and if you cannot see that, I don't know what to tell you.

Not saying this to you Brent, you're one of the good guys.

But we can't have it both ways. We can't say 'ah, we're in deep...there's just too many guns out there now...so we can't do anything' while saying 'yeah, freely available guns has been a good thing for this country'. Are we admitting that lax guns in this country has been a mistake?

We need to enforce the laws we have, CLOSE THE LOOPHOLES. Background checks for everyone. My only added law is mental health checks to an application, signed off by two different doctors.

How are we not enforcing the laws we already have to such a degree that supposedly doing so will make any significant difference? This is such empty rhetoric it completely belittles your intelligence.

We keep finding exceptions in the legalese of the laws we have. The most obvious are the loopholes in the laws, as I have mentioned. Private sales, internet sales, gun show sales. BACKGROUND CHECKS, unless this, this, or that. Or what if I sell a gun to my dad? Go ahead, no worries.

How about when people can find a way to enact gun control without punishing thousands of law abiding citizens.

Ok, so we should direct our anger at the perps who kill the good cops as well as the bad cops who put us here in the first place. Not to mention the system which is more likely to give a murderous cop paid vacation instead of prison time. We should not be blaming the people who are demanding accountability.

There are ways and methods to make change. Becoming a sniper that kills cops is not one of these methods.

That doesn't answer the question. What % of the problem is created by circumventing these loopholes? Better yet - how vast are the loopholes at the behest of the NRA-goons that nothing more can/should be done?

btw - where were all the law-abiding gun-toters in CCW happy TX to stop the fuckstains that killed these cops?
