Commitment List 2013

Re: Commitment List 2013

Patterson is the son of former Clarkson and Calgary Flames standout Colin Patterson. He joins former Cards Michel Talbot (Jean-Guy), Brendan Hodge (Ken) and Cory Adams (Greg) as sons of NHLers to play at Plattsburgh.

You forgot to add Jerry Dineen (Bill Dineen) who also had brothers play in the NHL including current Florida Panthers coach Kevin.

the ejhl seems to be sending a ton of players to D1 as well must be a pretty good league, one team had 15 guys going D1 next yr, wouldnt mind seeing Oswego doing some recruiting in that league, we did pick up a dman last yr from there, he has been pretty good

Norwich pretty much mines Saskatchewan and the EJHL for recruits mixed in with a few outliers and then some prep school kids.

Re: Commitment List 2013

I know that Norwich doesn't comment on the players they have or haven't recruited before they show up on campus in the fall, but I don't ever remember hearing of so many players planning on trying out for the team. Why the change? Are the current teams advertising their success of their programs by their recruits to major hockey colleges? Just wondering. Also, some of these prospects sound pretty solid on paper, hope they work out.

It's likely just a comment on how focused Norwich's recruiting is on the EJHL this year. The EJHL also announces and promotes the college commitments of its players. And the Boston Junior Whalers do the same thing.

That's a great story! Thanks for sharing. And agreed, that was a sad sad ending to the Lebanon valley hockey program.

I loved going to watch Geneseo play Lebanon Valley at the iconic Hershey Arena, where I actually played a lot of my youth hockey for Lancaster in the early 80s.

Agreed. Only insert Elmira where you put Geneseo. The one trip I made to the Hershey Park Arena back in the late 2000's was one of the best hockey trips I've ever made. That barn is everything that's right with college hockey and is a landmark. I would have loved to have been at some Hershey Bears Calder Cup finals games there. Place had to be unreal.

The crowds were indeed great there, and very knowledgeable. When the arena was built it was the largest structure of its kind with no internal supports (i.e., pillars), kind of like a huge igloo. And of course that's also where Wilt scored his 100 points in a game.
