College Football V: Bowls Are Done; Carry On My Wayward Sons

Re: College Football V: Bowls Are Done; Carry On My Wayward Sons

No one cares about Kansas/Kansas State/Iowa State. They're staring the WAC/MWC in the face unless the Big East really wants the Jayhawks for basketball.

Well Missouri cares ;)

Yeah, but I think everyone and their brother stopped caring about Missouri when they were blabbing to anyone who would listen that they were heading to the Big Ten last summer.

In other news, apparently Ohio State's been told that there's still an investigation going on, and they might get a 2nd letter sent to them even after this Friday's meeting over the 1st one.

Yep. Kansas just ain't worth that much. At most they give ya the Kansas City market. Missouri would do the same along with St Louis tv market.

Re: College Football V: Bowls Are Done; Carry On My Wayward Sons

Except their basketball team is probably attractive enough for some conference to choke down their football team.

Well, perhaps, if you get them to sign off on the idea of "well, we could use a bottom feeder to set up shop in the basement."

Probably will say "nice work on your investigation...we agree with your assessment and any further punishment will be levied on Oregon later this season".

I think we all know tOSU is not exactly quaking in their boots right now.

Re: College Football V: Bowls Are Done; Carry On My Wayward Sons

So apparently the NCAA D1 Board of Directors passed a rule today requiring schools to maintain a 4-year average APR of 930 to be eligible for postseason play, including bowl games. This past year 10 out of the 68 schools in the basketball tournament would have been ineligible.

That's interesting. Of course you have to figure as more pressure is put on to up graduation rates, programs are going to find ways to try to graduate folks more easily (easy majors or whatever). I like the concept though.

How many points is a 3-point shot worth?

Virginia Tech another name being thrown around for joining the SEC.

Re: College Football V: Bowls Are Done; Carry On My Wayward Sons

I was going to mention them a couple days ago, but figured I didn't know enough about college football to be right. :p
Hell, its just like guessing as to what schools are going to end up in what conferences now. Throw enough shibby at the wall, something is bound to stick. ;)

I'd say that's possible, but I wonder after the Virginia legislature basically held the ACC hostage to make them take Virginia Tech out of the Big East instead of Syracuse (Imagine how awful the last half-decade of ACC football is then) whether they won't make UVA and VT stay attached at the hip.
