College Football V: Bowls Are Done; Carry On My Wayward Sons

Re: College Football V: Bowls Are Done; Carry On My Wayward Sons

Re: College Football V: Bowls Are Done; Carry On My Wayward Sons

Cleveland Plain Dealer reporting that Pryor "has decided to end his football career" at Ohio State.

Re: College Football V: Bowls Are Done; Carry On My Wayward Sons

ESPN is also reporting the same.

Re: College Football V: Bowls Are Done; Carry On My Wayward Sons

I'm so sad to hear that Pryor has been driven away from Ohio State. Too many journalists have put the car before the horse. He should be given a free ride on this one. Too many people have turned into backseat drivers on this. I hope Pryor can put this in the rear view mirror, puts the pedal to the metal and has a great career with <del>NASCAR</del> the NFL.

Saw this on another forum, and I thought I would share it with you guys....
Throughout the past two decades, college football has moved from eight- to 10-team regional conferences with a couple dozen independents to an era of super conferences and league title games.

Re: College Football V: Bowls Are Done; Carry On My Wayward Sons

So the interim coach at Ohio State says he saw NOTHING in the previous 10 years at the school and suspected nothing untoward was going on. Is he Sgt. Schultz or Stevie Wonder?

We've always been at war with Eastasia. :)

Well, he's probably in it as deep as anybody else there. The less he says about it, the better his chances are, slim as they might be, that he gets to keep the job full time.

Plausible Deniability. If nobody can find a document with your name on it, then you can always say (a) you were shocked, SHOCKED, by the relevations of the investigation or (b) it was the other guy's fault.

Penn State and Pitt to renew their long-standing rivalry.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa., June 14, 2011 - One of the nation's fiercest football rivalries is set to be renewed, as old rivals Penn State and Pittsburgh will meet again on the gridiron in 2016 and 2017.

Tim Curley, Penn State Director of Athletics, and Steve Pederson, Pitt Director of Athletics, made the announcement today that the long-time rivals are scheduled to meet September 10, 2016 in Pittsburgh and September 16, 2017 in Beaver Stadium.

Re: College Football V: Bowls Are Done; Carry On My Wayward Sons

Good to see. I'm not particularly interested in either program, but rivalries are the lifeblood of college football.

That means two teams with decent records might play an OOC game against each other! Alert the BCS!!!

Unfortunately the BCS system discourages such games, part of the reason so many teams dodge them (yes, SEC I'm making an inference to you, though you've made baby steps of improvement).

Re: College Football V: Bowls Are Done; Carry On My Wayward Sons

I'm kind of surprised they haven't looked at adding SoS back in. It's the easiest way to keep Boise State down even if the humans vote them to #5 all year long.

One thing that makes Michigan pretty unique is its lack of a mascot roaming the sidelines. In-state rival Michigan State has Sparty, one of the most recognizable characters in college athletics. But there's nothing in Ann Arbor.

For now.

U-M athletic director Dave Brandon, who has bitten off quite a bit during his year and a half in office, told the U-M online magazine michigantoday.umich.edu that the university might not be mascotless forever.

"We're interested in doing a mascot but it has to be something that fans love, that children love and everyone can embrace," Brandon said. "So far, we haven't figured out a way to do it. Until we come up with something we love, we don't have a mascot.

HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Michigan fans are going to *hate* this.

It was probably only a matter of time before Michigan started giving in to that sort of thing, but it's still pretty awful.

Of course it isn't this awful: http://www.theonlycolors.com/2011/6/17/2228922/point-of-order
