College Football IV: The Hand over Fist Cash Grab Time, or Bowl Season for short.

Re: College Football IV: The Hand over Fist Cash Grab Time, or Bowl Season for short.

I actually like the name of the Championship trophy. Has a nice ring to it.

Logo is terrible, I had thought the rumor was they were just going to modify the existing one to include a 12 instead of the 11 hidden in there now.

Division names are also terrible, but they didn't have a ton to work with here. I was never a fan of naming the divisions after Hayes/Schembechler or whatever the suggestion was.

I can certainly get behind the idea of the Dayne-Ameche trophy though!

Of all the logos, this one is "least bad" in my opinion.

Yes it is...it is stupid as hell. If they didnt play in the Big Ten then no Big Ten award should be named after them. What happens in a few years if someone else joins does their school get to put a random player on an award too?

Hey I got an idea, lets add Tom Osbourne to the COTY Award...I mean it makes about as much sense.

If there were a player deserving...maybe. But if they go adding more teams lets be honest...it really wont be the Big 10 anymore.

I've got my opinion. You have yours. So be it.

Re: College Football IV: The Hand over Fist Cash Grab Time, or Bowl Season for short.

I thought the LeBron James - Kobe Bryant Academic Award was kinda pushing it.

Re: College Football IV: The Hand over Fist Cash Grab Time, or Bowl Season for short.

How can you be deserving of being the namesake of a Big Ten Award if you didn't play in the Big Ten? That is the whole point. I understand the idea of wanting to honor all the institutions but come on. I mean at least Paterno coached in the Big Ten, I can ignore that one...but no Nebraska player should be on any Big Ten Award, they have yet to play a conference standing game yet. Wait ten years and if in that time they have some player that is just dominant and worthy of an award name then give it to them.

Divisions are the Legends and Leaders:
Legends- MSU, UM, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota and NW
Leaders- OSU, PSU, Purdue, Indiana, Wisconsin and Illinois

Championship trophy will be the Stagg-Paterno Trophy.
Championship game MVP will win the Grange-Griffin Trophy.

I'm sorry, is this a youth soccer league they are talking about? Do the parents of the players have to bring juice boxes and orange slices to the games? The legends and the leaders? Naming trophies after people that didn't play in the Big 10 just to appease people? There may be some good things in there but overall it seems more appropriate for cheerleading than football.

Although, the QB award at least sounds funny. Somebody with a lot of time can go back and find/mix names that would make this a lot funnier...for outstanding tackle by a QB they could have the Griese-Butkus trophy.

Yikes. They made a real meal out of the whole naming business. The division names are the worst of the lot. I can understand Legends a little bit, but Leaders?

Along with the Cam Newton - Peter Warrick Respect of Other People's Possessions Award.

Re: College Football IV: The Hand over Fist Cash Grab Time, or Bowl Season for short.

The division names stink. They're the worst kind of abstraction. They should have sold out and just named them for sponsors and at least gotten a paycheck out of it. Hell, their working names of the X and O divisions were better than this ****.

The logo is OK, but that's only in relation to the ****ty division names.

Two names for each trophy? What a crock.

Re: College Football IV: The Hand over Fist Cash Grab Time, or Bowl Season for short.

Brian over at Mgoblog
How can the same group of people responsible for creating the BTN be responsible for this? Obviously the visionary bits of the BTN arrangement come from Fox, with Delany and company the lucky nomads who parked their camels in the right bit of desert and now get to call themselves an emirate.

Ah, the mockery of two sports at once.

Re: College Football IV: The Hand over Fist Cash Grab Time, or Bowl Season for short.

A comment on the PTI site suggested "past losers to SEC" and "future losers to SEC".

I'm thinking this is a joke and the Big Whatever conference didn't really make that announcement today...must be hackers...check out the alternate submission on the site I linked

Re: College Football IV: The Hand over Fist Cash Grab Time, or Bowl Season for short.

This made my night! Thanks for posting...

I will say some are quite amusing, but there is something inherently funny about a bunch of SEC crackers attempting to poke fun at the socioeconomic status of Big Twen country.

PS Don't ever stop at the Burger King in Pikeville, KY.

Edit: Gotta say #62 made me laugh...
