Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

So, with this whole Cam Newton thing, it seems a pretty straight forward path to the truth. The "recruiter" who acted on behalf of Newton has been talking to the NCAA about a meeting with two Miss State coaches and Newton's dad. Clearly you ask the coaches if the meeting ever took place, and if Newton's dad talked about money. If its a "Yes" then Newton is not eligible and Auburn will forfeit the games where Newton dressed. Should they find Auburn paid money further down the line, its the death penalty for Auburn. Another serious problem is Newton's issue with MSU, because it sounds like boosters were talking with him and recruiting him, which is against the NCAA laws.

I'm sure Auburn will get nothing more then a USC style slap on the wrist.

I agree that most of this ought to happen (though of course it never will) except I don't think Auburn should have to forfeit the games Newton dressed unless it is proved that they knew he was not eligible. It is logically (albeit not probabilistically) possible that Auburn is an innocent actor in this.

If this wasn't the SEC and he wasn't a star for an undefeated team, he'd be sitting. But Auburn looks like they are full speed ahead. Really, if this stuff is true, Auburn should get clobbered. Makes you wonder just how much more of this goes on away from the light of day.

Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

Not to mention how ugly the score of that bowl game will be. Big East Champ last year (Cincinnati) lost by 27. Could easily be worse this year, depending on the matchup. How great would it be if Oregon gacked up a game and ended up <s>playing</s> destroying Big East Champ Connecticut....

Could Boise draw them? Because given all the dynamics of that situation I could see them dropping a hunnit on them to make a statement.

Oregon would probably still get the Rose against Boise/TCU or the Big-10 Champ. The Orange will end up with the 2nd best Big 12 or Big 10 team. Either way, that's not a very compelling match.

Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

There is no way that the Orange Bowl will end up stuck with the Big East Champion. The Fiesta Bowl has the last pick this year, so it will almost certainly be the Big XII Champion against the Big East Champion in Glendale.

The top non-BCS Conference team will end up in the Rose Bowl if there is a vacancy in the Rose Bowl, so if the Championship game is Oregon-Auburn, TCU (or Boise State, if they pass TCU) will go to the Rose Bowl in Oregon's place.

So Baylor vs UConn. :p

Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

Idaho proving to Boise State that they deserve to be treated like a rival still, giving up a punt return, blocked punt and about to go down 21-0 in the first ten minutes.

And a 58-yard bomb.

28-0 in the 1st quarter.

This is already ugly.

Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

They're talking about bagel sandwiches and D3 Football. Yeah, Boise better pitch a shut out here.

Cripes, can't they at least expand the dome there?? Just so weird to see the wall right there at the endzone. Seems so HS Basketball to me.

Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

Michigan just scored a defensive touchdown. You'll have to excuse me now, because I have to go clean up after the pig that just flew into the side of my roof.

No- there have been some plans for it, but none of them make any sense. Plus, they were just forced to put in new non-wood ends and a sprinkler system since the whole dome is wood. Not that anyone here cares- but Idaho will probably build a multi-purpose BB facility before building a new outdoor football field.

As for the game, at least Idaho proved they can play with BSU's 2nd and 3rd teamers- since they tied the second half 14-14... :) A shred of silver lining for my Vandals. Long way to go to be good. And I wish BSU nothing but the worst in their new enevor in the MWC.... ;)

Terrible game. It seems more as if both teams want to make sure they are the worst of the worst in turnovers and turnover margin in the Big10. Some of those turn overs seem to be mind-numbingly bad.

Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

The Wisconsin/Indiana tilt is a real nailbiter.

Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

76-13. Yikes.

Michigan might have finally put Purdue away. I think...

Yeah it was tight at 69-13, but Wisconsin broke it open with a 74-yard TD pass.

The game on ESPN looks like a good ending...

Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

83 points now for Wisconsin.

Bielema should have gone for two.
