Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

A player dismissed from his previous school for cheating THREE times academically AND having possession of a stolen laptop. .

He left Florida prior to them starting any type of disciplinary action against him. I'm not saying he didn't do it but I know how important fairness is to you. ;)

3 teams to join the WAC

Looks like Denver has finally gotten themselves out of the Sunbelt. Now, all eyes are on Montana, see if they wanna move up and suffer from not being able to play for a national championship ever again.

Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

So let me get this straight, USC has one player, paid by an agent. The school didn't know but the NCAA created a new barometer of responsibility...saying that because Bush was a high-profile player they were going to ignore their own standards and punish USC...this is what we call in the legal profession ex post facto.

Now here is Cam Newton. As high profile as you can get for a player right now. A player dismissed from his previous school for cheating THREE times academically AND having possession of a stolen laptop. It seems like the school and the conference knew about these incidents and didn't care...then he gets bought and sold like chattel...if USC got what they got for Reggie Bush I say Auburn gets double what USC got. Oh, I forgot Auburn is in the SEC and they have help on the COI.

The best part is it looks like right now the SEC knew about this earlier and sat on the info. I think the entire SEC needs to be banned from the BCS. :)

My bet is even if the NCAA found people to testify to this being the truth, no penalties for Auburn. If USC did this, they would have gotten the death penalty. LOL.

Normally I agree, but Auburn has been in trouble recently, no way they get out of this if there is any truth to this story.

Why this kid was allowed a second chance is the better question...there should be a zero tolerance cheating policy.

2nd chance? Florida gave him 3 before they even thought about taking action...Auburn is number 4.

Montana is indicating that they will stay in the Big Sky, so that they can hold on to tradition, and keep playing their rival Montana State. By moving up, WAC rules only allow that game to be played in Missula at Montana's home, but not go to Bozeman, MSU's home.

Too bad for the WAC....

Yeah, it really sounded like the Montana Legistature wanted a packaged deal for both Montana and Montana State. The WAC probably wouldn't mind Montana State, but I don't think they're nearly as ready as what Montana would be.

But, to Montana's credit- at least they will be playing in a real tournament for a real National Championship. ;)

No I know, that is what I meant...when he was caught the first time that should have been it. That Florida let him cheat that often is inexcusable, and that he is all of a sudden a saint (according to much of the media) because he transferred to a CC and lost a year of eligibility is puke worthy.

As far as cheating goes, I don't believe he is accused of anything new. They are simply just bringing up the stuff that happened at Florida 2 years ago. I think the only thing he is currently being looked at for is if he asked MSU for money during recruiting.

Whether you like the guy or not, what really should be investigated is how private information is getting leaked to the public and why it only happens now when he is being successful. If he was having a bad or even average season, or was at MSU none of this would come up.

Heard an awesome conspiracy theory about Cam Newton, on Scot VanPelt's show...

The whole thing is being made up by Nike since Auburn uses Under Armour and Phil Knight's alma mater is Oregon. :D

I'd say you can't make this stuff up...but, obviously, someone did. :p

Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

So are we all rooting for UGA this week against Auburn? :D

I'd love to see AJ Green take it to him as a middle finger the NCAA for him getting suspended 4 games for alleged violations and Newton gets to walk around without punishment.

True, helps out FCS football in the west a lot by keeping that Bell Cow school still there. A school like Montana moves up, you start getting other schools looking to move up. Hell, when NDSU and UND and the rest of the old NCC moved up to D1AA or FCS, some St. Cloud and Mankato fans were all looking at that and saying, well, why ain't we moving up. They're not nearly as well supported as those other schools.

Almost crazy enough to be some truth to it. Clearly, Phil Knight wouldn't mind seeing his franchise/alma mater in the BSC Bowl.

UConn beats Pitt in a fairly exciting game, 30-28. It will be "interesting" to see how ugly a record the Big East BCS representative has.

There's going to be 35,000 people at the Orange Bowl for Virginia Tech- Big East

Re: College Football III: We may lose, but we keep the score close!

For comparison: SMU received death penalty in 1987 after 21 players received total of $61,000 to play ($117,000 in '10 dollars)

Not to mention how ugly the score of that bowl game will be. Big East Champ last year (Cincinnati) lost by 27. Could easily be worse this year, depending on the matchup. How great would it be if Oregon gacked up a game and ended up <s>playing</s> destroying Big East Champ Connecticut....

Well, to be fair, Cincinnati did just lose their head coach. He did offer to coach the bowl game, but I think the AD at Cincy didn't like the idea of BK also Recruiting for Notre Dame at that time as well.
