Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Nah, they call 'em the Chokies for a reason.

It was a perfect storm. Lose a complete heartbreaker that would have vaulted you into BCS consideration in week one, have a short week then play not only one of the better FCS teams, but an FCS team 2 hours up the road that can make their entire season by beating you. Not the best timing.

Still no excuse for VT. I'm just saying it isn't a big surprise.
True, you would have to think that JMU is loaded with a lot of guys that grew up being VT fans and were hoping against hope their senior years that they would get a call from Blacksburg so they could go be a Hokie, or some other BCS school at the least.

Clearly, it was too good of an idea to actually happen.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

If you thought things were bad for the ACC this week, it could actually get worse next week. The only remaining undefeated teams are from the weaker Atlantic Division:

WF @ Stanford
Maryland @ West Virginia
Clemson @ Auburn
NC State vs. Cincinnati
BC (BYE)

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Overheard on radio during a discussion about Gopher football..."The only Dakota that they could beat is Dakota Fanning"

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

The battery one doesn't really make sense. How do you beat someone with battery power?

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Next week is a rematch against Wake Forest, but unlike last year the WF coach doesn't have ACC refs to spend the entire pregame fellating.

I don't think a PAC-10 fan should be complaining about conference refs being a bit homer-istic. Pot, kettle, that sort of thing.

College Park may actually be not horrible, but they don't belong on the same field as WV in this year's "Burning Couch Bowl."

Perhaps, but everyone agrees the phantom clipping call last year was BS. Not that we could have avoided the whole issue by doing something in the second half.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Listening to Twin Cities sports radio rip on the Brewster and the Gophers all day has been very entertaining. :D

Anything better than these beauties?
Overheard on radio during a discussion about Gopher football..."The only Dakota that they could beat is Dakota Fanning"

Another one:
Q: How much battery power does it take to beat Tim Brewster?

A: 1 AA

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

They went through a list of Universities from the Dakotas to try to find one that the Gophers could beat...and then decided that they should just play other schools in Minnesota, like Bemidji, UM-Morris, UM-Crookston, Mankato, Anoka-Ramsey Community College....

edit:
Also the other one that was posted earlier should have read like this:

How many batteries does it take to light up the Gophers?

Just 1 AA!

edit 2:
Predicting the spread for the USC game, they're thinking it is somewhere around 80.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Lock of the week. Apparently, right now, USC is only a 14 point favorite in Vegas over the Gophers. There is no way the Gophers are within 14 points of USC.

Also, apparently Dickinson State is crossed off the list of teams that the Gophers can schedule as cupcakes from the Dakotas, they're ranked 18th in the NAIA.

USC really isn't that good. I could see the Gophs losing 56-42 if the offense doesn't turn the ball over.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

I still think the Chokies lose to JMU was somewhat convenient if you ask me. :D Lord knows they don't want Boise near the National Title Game.

Have you seen USC play this year? The only thing consistent about them is taking penalties and winning by 3 points. The barely squeak by Hawaii in an offensive shoot-out followed by barely squeaking by Virginia is a defensive boring-fest.
