Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Before you start the dynasty you can create custom conferences. You can only do it when you create the dynasty...once you advance conferences are set, unless you are a lesser team and get invited the a BCS conference. And the swapped teams get each other's schedule (so if you move OSU out of the B10, whoever gets swapped in will play their last game against Michigan). Be aware switching teams can screw up rivalries (important for recruiting).

I always switch BC and USF to put BC back in the BE where they belong. :p

Edit: Illinois qualified for the BCS as the 14th team, but the Rose Bowl passed over a bunch of more worthy teams to retain the B10/Pac10 matchup.

AHHHHH. Ok, I didn't know you could do that. Normally I just play as Minnesota and rattle off 10 national championships to sooth my aching college football soul.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Ciskie sent a tweet at that time saying the cheat sheet says, "You're up by 25...why are you looking at a chart?"

He must have lost the sheet when WI scored to make it 34-9 on the previous touchdown and kicked the extra point. :) He should have just said the truth.

ouch. Nice catch. He's a lying sack and a bad one. And he's obviously a p*ssy too if he can't man up and say it.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

You don't storm the field when you are the overwhelming favorite...

Yeah, that was kinda dumb. I mean, once it had started I found my way out there cuz hey why not, but I would have preferred that not happened. We were favored, and had beat them 2 of the last 3 years; granted we hadn't won at home against USC since 2000, but still that's a weak reason. As bronconick said, though, that'll happen against USC for a few more years.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

I've never had the chance to rush the field, so more power to you for not only doing having the opportunity, but also doing it. It's something you should be happy about because, unfortunately, USC will return to power and these will become few and far between against USC.

True, but we gotta also act like we've been there before. We don't want to be one of those schools that rushing the field at ridiculous times, like Cal.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

So, a Florida fan I know told me this about that fake FG last night.

Since the pass was ruled a backwards lateral, and not a forward pass, when it hits the ground it's a fumble. On 4th down, only the person who initially fumbled the football may pick it up and advance the ball. So, the referees should have blown the play dead then and there, turnover on downs.

Is he right?

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

That QB isn't the running QB so they tried a RB on 3rd down, albeit a slow developing play. I think the coach was right after the game, that fake could have gone for a TD with a better toss and one block on the LB coming over. The audacity of it is what made it work.

As it is, if they felt that was a better play than a 53 yd attempt, which it was, then it wasn't crazy. The great play was the slant to the 5.
All fair points. I do think LSU should've been more aggressive when they got inside the Florida 45. They ran three times (extremely conservative) and then called the fake FG (bat**** crazy ;), though yes, it worked).

Overall, I felt like LSU had a significant talent advantage in this game. They could've been up by two or three scores at halftime but handed UF 14 points on a silver platter with two almost completely unforced turnovers. Then they had the ST breakdown that let Florida back in it once they were up 12.

It was especially audacious considering he took a timeout first. If you're Urban Meyer, don't you have to see that coming, at least a little bit?

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

FSU wins, Miami and Florida lose
WMU pounds Testicle Tech, who beat CMU last week, and CMU lost yesterday as well.
Alabama gets knocked off the "Greatest team of all time, or in Earth's history?" discussion
USC loses to Stanford. Again.
Denard Robinson Heisman knockoff shirts are 50% off.

A good day.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

I'm not as harsh as bronco, but I agree.

USC (South Carolina) and LSU win. Christmas in October. Suck it ESPN. Now they're going to have to think of conspiracy theories and manipulate the media to try to somehow get the best team ever (since Tebow) to play the college game back to the NC game. So that's what ESPN calls fantasy football. Whatever.

I was happy USC (Southern Cal) lost because it's always great to see such another epic ESPN team fall on their face, even if this wasn't so big of an upset.

As for Michigan, I think only the most daft Michigan fans didn't see this coming. I'm a big fan of Denard Robinson but seriously, folks. The Wolverines were destined to lose because of their defense. Robinson had a bad game but really... take those hiccups he had and rerun that game with the hiccups included where Robinson was on a team whose Defense was at least as good as Michigan State's or better and.... I'm not sure Robinson would have got the W, but it wouldn't have been a blowout for sure.

I'm just glad Michigan finally lost so they can stop building up the hopes of the daft Wolverine fans and get back to just playing as best they can and improving as best they can. I hope Rich Rodriguez keeps him job. I can't see the DCoordinator keeping his, though.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Ohio State is the new #1. Oregon is #2. Boise State is #3.

The Coaches poll has Nebraska #4 and TCU #5, the AP has them reversed.

Oklahoma, Auburn, Alabama and LSU are 6-9 in both polls. The AP has SoCar #10, the coaches pick Utah.

Polls

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

I think I agree more with the USA Today poll.

You can't drop Michigan out of the rankings for 1 loss and still keep Oregon State in with 2.

Michigan will be unranked in due time, but not this week.

Re: College Football II: The BCS hits the Fan

Holy hell. Look at the mishmash of #1 votes. That's awesome. CHAOS! I LOVE CHAOS!!!!!

Nothing wrong there. See, plays are usually over when someone's knee hits the ground or someone makes an illegal forward lateral.

Oregon State's two losses have been to the #3 and #5 teams in the country though, and they just beat #9 Arizona on the road.

Forward laterals aren't illegal for some teams. :D

I think that only applies on fumbles beyond the line of scrimmage and/or fumbles forward. This fits neither category. I'll try to look it up later since I'm guessing the rulebook is blocked here at work.

It was especially audacious considering he took a timeout first. If you're Urban Meyer, don't you have to see that coming, at least a little bit?

Especially when the coach calls the kicker over and talks to him directly as he's coming out of the timeout? Seriously? That was a huge red flag to me, sitting at home.
