Really? Losing to Illinois?
I was watching that and smh.Really? Losing to Illinois?
Really? Losing to Illinois?
Woof
I tend to follow Massey; I think that ends up closest to reality.
Nothing like a ratings system that relies upon incorrect data. ; )
Not to be a smart ***, but what is the best one? I was wondering about that the other day, and I'm using terrible words for google, as I get worthless and non-explanatory ratings.
Wondering if Purdue(+3)can be the Spartans buzzkill a la the Hawkeyes after their win over Penn St?
Two things, well, three really.
1. Massey is not the same as Massey composite.
2. You misunderstand the point of composite. You can be both 8th and 68th best depending on the ranking system. One may factor in margin or yards or first downs while the mascot dancing. The point is, it measures teams using the widest variety of measures which helps even out the strengths and weaknesses of each system. Stupid systems are averaged out. This helps remove biases and artifacts that humans create even unintentionally.
3. Massey composite is the best.
Again, I disagree. Fact is, a team cannot be both 8th and 68th. One of the "stupid systems" that is being used is wrong, and we shouldn't be using "stupid systems" at all. Also, by your examples you point out exactly why the Massey Composite is flawed...in no world should any ranking that factors in first downs while a mascot is dancing have any weight whatsoever. But maybe that's how Clemson got ranked 8th. ; )
no, that's how the gophers were ranked so high
They're going to slag Cincy for an 8 point win on Tuesday while ignoring that Alabama looks like chit with one score wins over teams with losing records
You must be forgetting that while they were narrow wins for Alabama, they were against SEC teams that if they played in any other conference in America, not only would they win every game, they would do so in such a convincing fashion they would be awarded negative losses. As a result, those wins are actually more difficult than winning the National Title. That is what none other than Paul Finebaum has told me. ; )
