Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

Too bad they don't make teams forfeit games anymore. Then MSU would be 14-0 and could claim a national title.

Now they're just 13-1 with a loss in a game with no winner.

IINM even when a team forfeits retroactively, their opponent still has whatever game result they achieved. I believe there is a game buried somewhere in Cornell history where we lost to BU (?), they then had the win vacated, and now both teams are listed as losing the game.

I did not think an opponent could benefit from a forfeit.

5 hours about Michigan-OSU is horribad, ESPN.

Meh. I hate both those teams and I won't watch it, but the record plus the rivalry justifies the hype.

Think of it as 5 fewer hours talking about the Red Sox or Patriots.

Oh they'll figure out a way to work in the Patriots and the Red Sox...

Screw that, when all of the Calipari years at Kentucky are invalidated, I'm gonna claim Cornell made it to the Elite 8!

Did they forfeit or vacate? The two words aren't interchangeable in the NCAA's eyes. MSU chose forfeit the 1994 season to soften possible sanctions from the NCAA. As a result teams like Wisconsin and Purdue get to claim wins in games they lost on the field. In vacated guys there is simply no winner. A team gives up its win but the result is not overturned. In your example, if BU does claim it as a loss rather than vacated win, maybe Cornell chose to accept the loss despite the forfeit?

I didn't realize this. Thanks.

Didn't KY win it all that year? That makes everybody who lost to them in the tourney co-champions!

You're talking Notre Dame. If it was BC or Georgetown or Loyola Marymount, I would agree.

And after Pres. Obama got the honorary degree, Bemidji St. beat Notre Dame in the regionals.
Correlation does not imply causation.

35-10 Washington at halftime in Pullman. Credit to Wazzu, it was 28-3 at the end of the first quarter.

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

Group of Five Alert:

Air Force up 17-10 on Boise to start the 2nd half.
WMU and Toledo tied at 7 three minutes in.

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

Textbook "Coug'd it" from Wazzu. WSU gets to the Washington 1 and a chance to close within two scores and they turnover on downs. Washington goes 98 yards and it's a 25 point lead...

Re: College Football 2016-17: Destination Tampa

Western now in the drivers seat for the NY6 bid. Boise just lost to Air Force 27-20. Had it 1st and goal at the five and went with four straight run plays and got stuffed. Boise is eliminated from Mountain West contention.

Really Navy is the only school that could challenge WMU for the Cotton Bowl.

Broncos win 55-35 over Toledo. MAC tradition is now for the favorite's coach to get hired away during this week and lay an egg in the conference title game.

Tom Herman to UT(not like anyone didn't see that coming). Nice 10 mil cushion if Strong wants to take a couple of years off.
