Additonally, the CyHawk Game (Iowa State at Iowa) being at night is going to be one hell of a tailgate. That game is already insanity if it kicks mid afternoon, Iowa City is going to be absolutely nuts that day.

I really hate the fact that they put rankings on them already. Ignoring the simple fact that they probably will not remain those rankings even a few weeks into the season, let alone all the way until November.

Very stupid.

Looking like the only night game for MSU will be the opener against Furman. Not too disappointed about that, 8pm games get a little old after awhile.

October 29th vs. Northwestern @ 5:30 PM? Just when you thought you've seen everything...

I actually kind of like the idea. Getting home by 10:30 PM should be doable. A normal night's rest sounds good. But a 5:30 kick-off? That may just be a first.

With half of the TV rights to Fox, and the other half up for bid, I think we are going to see more 2pm EST and 6pm EST games..Really gives the Big Ten the ability to start the first game at 12 EST and the last at 8 EST, giving almost 11 or 12 straight hours of Big Ten Football on a given Saturday. If it's halftime of Nebraska and Northwestern on ESPN 2, flip over to Fox where the MSU/Penn State game is going on, etc.

ESPN needs to feed its own SEC hype machine, and can easily do so with their rankings. I don't like it either, but it is what it is.

Any chance you make it to Iowa City? Let me know, we tailgate two blocks from the Stadium.

Iowa has two night games this year that will start at 7pm local time. As someone who has to travel 4 hours for games, night games are the best. The atmosphere is unmatched, I get to spend a full day with my Dad and brother, and any other friends or family, and it really helps make it about more than just the game. I love being in my seat Kinnick Stadium, but for us it's all about the whole game day experience. The later the kickoff, the longer that experience lasts, and with only 7 precious home Saturdays a year, I want as much tailgate time as possible.

MSU did a 2PM game against Youngstown St a couple years ago. It was great. Didn't have to get up super early like a nooner, and ended at a time where you could still get home and do something at night.

I wish all our night games were 7pm. Our season openers are and it's great, usually out by 10:30. But those 8pm games always run long because of ESPN/ABC, and you end up getting out of the stadium at 12:15. I'm sure a 7PM primetime start on ESPN would end up with an end time more towards 11 than 10:30, but that's much better than past midnight.

They should keep his statue. But they should turn it in a 180 degree angle, seeing as how he turned his back on all the little boys that got raped by Sandusky over the years.

Sometimes the guys with the cleanest facades, are actually the world's biggest sociopaths.

Winning a simple game is that important. As are the basic numbers to those who didn't actually play.

Kind of sad that a game over rides the welfare of kids that badly.

Re: College Football 2015-16: Bowls, Playoffs, and Offseason

Should've gotten the death penalty, or at least forced to play with zero scholarships for 1-2 years. Heck, I wish the Big Ten would've kicked them out. I still can't believe the NCAA virtually wiped away all sanctions. The wins should still be vacated, and if this is all the way back to '76, that would've wiped out 308 of his 409 and both national titles.

Yet there are people who still think the whole thing was just a witch hunt.

And I'm still stunned that the hockey team put 409 on their helmets. As if that matters so much.

Re: College Football 2015-16: Bowls, Playoffs, and Offseason

Unless more of the MAC does, I doubt they will. At least Idaho played in D1AA, and the Big Sky has all of their old rivals (except Bozo State). Funny thing that Idaho and EMU have a similar problem- a big D1 school within a few miles- drawing fans to see teams like Stanford and Northwestern over New Mexico State and Ohio.

I'll bet more people show up to smaller Montana than any of the Sun Belt teams.

True, EMU would need to get a couple of the other MAC's to move down, and then get Oakland and or Detroit-Mercy to start up a program, and also partner up with a D1-AA league to bring up Grand Valley State and maybe Wayne State as well. That happens and that would give them a couple of pretty good local programs to play around with and keep the travel costs down. They probably would end up still sucking, but as a Laker, I'm more than OK with that. ;):D
