College Football 2015-16: Bowls, Playoffs, and Offseason

Re: College Football 2015-16: Bowls, Playoffs, and Offseason

Is your angle:

1) Sandusky didn't do anything
2) PSU didn't really do anything
3) The NCAA are big meanies

Seriously?

No - a crime was committed. Jerry Sandusky will not see the light of day as a free man in this lifetime.
No - a coverup by university officials occurred. Civil and criminal penalties should apply (see the RC Church).
Yes - Did Mark Emmert have the authority to do what he did? The rollback suggests he did not.

Where in the NCAA bylaws gave the NCAA permission to drop the hammer on Penn St.? You have to violate a bylaw (not a criminal statute) for NCAA administrative penalties to happen.

Granted it's the ESPYs, but one college football player got nominated for Best Record-Breaking Performance. Oddly the Heisman voters decided not to choose that guy.

Re: College Football 2015-16: Bowls, Playoffs, and Offseason

This is likely to set off a scoreboard building boom in the MAC. Or drive them off to either drop their programs down or drop football altogether.

40 foot tall, 72.5 feet wide for a grand total of 2900 square feet. It would be just 4 square feet smaller than the video screen at Oregon. The biggest board currently in the MAC is at Toledo, which is only 1500 square feet, at 50 feet by 30 feet.

Oh, it just gets worse and worse and worse.

It gets harder and harder for me to agree with Admin's position on deleting posts that contain a certain nickname for Penn State.

And to think, that place had it's punishments from the NCAA reduced.

That program needs to be nuked, plain and simple... To have that go on for so long, it's vile...

Re: College Football 2015-16: Bowls, Playoffs, and Offseason

There is no punishment too severe for the program. And I don't care how few people are left in what was clearly a giant conspiracy* to keep THIS MUCH pedophilia under wraps. I don't care how many people in Happy Valley are innocent bystanders that merely came into a school with such a monstrous shame in it's all-too-recent past. The B1G can give them the boot and the entire AD can go belly up for all I care.

* Let's start being serious about this: With THIS MUCH cover up, it makes one wonder (a) just how powerful Sandusky (or even Paterno, if it really was about protecting HIM from the consequences of revealing what Sandusky had done) was to warrant that much effort or, more cynically, (b) whether this was actually a larger conspiracy involving multiple pederasts. One can go uncomfortably further down the paranoid/conspiracy theory rabbit hole with the latter, but between the level of commitment to keep Sandusky out of trouble and some of the odd unresolved stuff associated with the case (Ray Gricar, anyone?) it's almost unfathomable that so many people could keep quiet for so long.

Re: College Football 2015-16: Bowls, Playoffs, and Offseason

Is there coincidence that there was a massive coverup (church and state) of priest abusers is the Catholic diocese of Johnstown/Altoona?? How pervasive was abuse in that neck of the woods???

Heads have been rolling with a new bishop in charge.

Google the diocese and sex abuse. Lots of articles, but make sure you have a strong stomach.

There's certainly smoke, to be sure.

Maybe fire, too, if I'm right about Sandusky not being the only one.

You have to think at some point that the powers that be in Penn State had to have a sit down and talked about cutting Sandusky loose just to get the pervert out of their house. Either there was another one, or at that time Sandusky already had enough shibby on them already that he blackmailed them into staying around.

That entire school and their fanbase that still defends their actions are scumbags. **** them.

Not yet. Probably start getting more into it once media days hit. For now I've been expanding my Pairwise file to include more SOS data.

I think Bama was the only conference champ I had last year. I remember I had GaTech winning the ACC...

I think I was a little better, but fairly certain I had ASU in the CFP...:o

Happy Anniversary to our friends at Newton Tech. Yesterday was 500 days since BC won an ACC game in either football or men's hoops.

Re: College Football 2015-16: Bowls, Playoffs, and Offseason

Terrible news coming out.

Former MSU punter Mike Sadler and current Nebraska punter Sam Foltz have been killed in a car crash while at a punting camp in Wisconsin.
