I'm pretty sure that there are lights, but they're more for the ability to use the field at night and aren't up to TV specifications - they might have been sufficient for a late afternoon game though. They'll truck in a few Musco trucks.

I'm also pretty sure that they did build power supply and places on the roof to specifically place the lights.
That would be my guess as well. Live HD TV really wants a lot of light.

The NCAA today upheld stripping Alabama football of 21 football wins from 2005-2007for major violations, just weeks after Obama welcomes the Alabama football team to the White House to celebrate its national championship in 2009.

What's wrong with this picture?

Being a disgrace to the game is OK if it's an SEC team.

National Championship. Alabama only won a single bowl game, not a "National Championship". That big crystal football they got there in their trophy case?? Thats what they hand to the winner of the BCS Bowl game, not to the winner of a NCAA National Champion. If they going to be inviting the winners of bowl games to the White House, then where are Idaho, Middle Tennessee State, Marshall, UCLA, Ohio State, UCONN, and Central Michigan's invites at?? :p

Not as crazy as it sounds idea I've heard, from the idea of the Big Ten wants a 12th team. If the Big Ten raids Nebraska or Missouri from the Big XII, the SEC could make a offer to Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Okie State to bring them to 16. That right there would pretty much kill off a BCS competor, and bring even insainer crowds to their football games. Would be a pretty good move for them in some of their spring sports as well. Adds another site that could compete to host the SEC championship. and really shakes things up for the also rans in the west.

Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly was on the Dan Patrick Show and said he did not want to join a conference, but that ND's "Olympic Sports" might need the support structure if something happens to the Big East.

The show's focus was on Brian Kelly not giving a wishy-washy answer and admitting he didn't want to join the Big Ten, but what's going to happen to the Big East?

Re: College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

There's been some talk, mind you talk from people who have no idea what they are talking about, that the Big East is in serious trouble.

I don't know why, with them being the premier conference in college basketball and college basketball bringing in even more money...I doubt the Big East is failing any time soon.

Hoops, and the newly(?) formed Big East LAX league will keep SU out of the Big Ten I think. What SU would gain (if anything) in football they would lose in hoops. The Orange would be able to survive as an independant in LAX with their reputation.

I could see Pitt considering the move. They gain Penn State, which would be huge for them. Football and hoops could benefit from the move. Same for Rutgers.

Re: College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

Not going to happen.

Why not?? Its not like Nebraska and Colorado can't sign a deal to play each other in a non-conference game. Hell, Florida and Florida State have done that like every year. Too much money to be made from the game.

Furthermore, if the PAC-10 does go and grab Colorado, I don't see any reason why Nebraska would want to stick around in the Big XII. Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, and Missouri really don't excite the people in Lincoln, and their thoughts are that too much of the league is focused on the Texas schools, with Texas being the prime reason for that. They move to the Big Ten, they're in a league where all the money is shared Equally, and there's no perceved bias towards any one school in the league.

SEC commish says he's got a hammer to drop as well if the Big Ten goes big.

Lacrosse, even at a championship program like Syracuse, is irrelevant to these discussions. The fact that basketball is merely a secondary consideration behind football and the accompanying TV contracts should tell you something.

Syracuse's long term interests, especially academically, would be better served in the Big 10 and its not like the Midwest doesn't produce any talented basketball teams and if the tournament goes to 96, your conference affiliation will matter even less.

I feel like I've had this conversation before, but anyway:

#1, if you really think Nebraska gives a **** about Colorado you've been brainwashed by people in Boulder. Colorado made Nebraska its red-letter game in the late 80's/early 90's under McCartney. Nebraska has never truly reciprocated. In reality, Nebraska hasn't had a rival since it stopped playing Oklahoma every year. If Colorado jumped ship for the Pac-10, Nebraska would be in no hurry to continue playing them.

#2, it's not that Nebraska wouldn't jump to the Big Televen, it's that the Big Televen will not come calling for Nebraska.

Yeah, as far as I know Nebraska brings a historically great football program and...?
