Re: College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

PSYCHE! NW tries pulling a fake FG from around the 6 or 7, but comes up short. Auburn wins.

Re: College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

What the hell, NW loses on a terrible fake FG play.

Which the camera didn't even show because they weren't ready.

Re: College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

Heh, Auburn gets the ESPN announcer (unfortunately EA is in Orlando;) ) with the gatorade shower as they get their coach.

Re: College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

NW going to be kicking with a guy who typically doesn't kick. Unsung hero?

Nope.

The key to the game? OT... 4th Down for NW... they sent out Demos who has gone 0 for forever in FG.

Auburn RUSHES the kicker and ends up injuring him.

Did they not review what Demos did ALL GAME LONG?

I would have simply sat back and watched him kick! He'd've MISSED ANYWAYS!

Lucky for Auburn, they did a ridiculous fake attempt to seal the Auburn victory, but seriously...

Demos was lucky he got injured. If he didn't, he'd've had to blow the game a second time in OT because there would be NO WAY he'd make it from 10 yards out even!

What a suckfest at Kicker. I think we know what NW's head coach will be doing this offseason.

Re: College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

I'd like to thank West Virginia's inexplicable need to play down to their opponent for letting Bowden finish with a win.

Re: College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

Finishing 2-5 (with wins over BC and Temple), the PAC-10 is officially eliminated from the who-had-the-best-bowl-season discussion. The other BCS conferences are still slugging it out with the Big 10 leading the way, but with only a 3-2 record so far. It doesn't appear too likely that any conference is going to be able to claim significant dominance this year.

I had a feeling it was going to go this way tonight.

23-0 Florida.

I was rooting for Northwestern, but when they roughed the kicker I thought of this episode of The West Wing:
TOBY: Let me ask you this. A guy shoots 1 for 23 from the field.

SAM: McDeere?

TOBY: Yeah. But he goes 8 for 8 from the foul line. My question is, why are you fouling this guy at all? I'd just get out of the way and point him toward the basket.

SAM: Yeah.

C.J.: So we're done talking about this now.

SAM: Is there any beer?

C.J.: You two have offices.

TOBY: It's out in the refrigerator.

I predict we'll hear how dominant the SEC is...regardless of the record. :p

The Big Ten might have a 3-2 record right now, but the wins have all been quite impressive - Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Penn State all won against ranked and favored opponents by massively outgaining them and controlling tempo with tough D.

For the losses, Northwestern almost pulled it out today, again as an underdog. Minnesota's loss to Iowa State isn't a huge negative to me in a matchup between two 6-6 teams.

For the remaining games, I have no idea what to expect from the Alamo Bowl, given Michigan State's suspensions and Texas Tech's coaching situation. I do like how Iowa's defense matches up with Georgia Tech, particularly after seeing how Miami played GT earlier this season, when Miami just got whipped at the line of scrimmage by a much bigger and more physical Wisconsin team.

Anyway, those 3 Big Ten wins so far were all matchups between ranked teams. To date, it's got to be the most impressive performance by any of the major conferences.

Gawd, this is difficult to watch at times.

Turn off that crap and watch the Twilight Zone marathon...they may be 60 years old but they have more drama than that game :p
And you don't have to listen to Brian Billick fellate Tim Tebow.

Yeah, I would have really like to seen Cincy would have looked like if it was operating on all cyclinders tonight, IE, didn't have BK already in South Bend. :(

Re: College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

Eh, I've got it on in the background while I stick clothes in the dryer for 2 hours at a time.

37-10. They might have ****ed Meyer off, and he's gonna ring up 3 more TD's just for meanness.

I don't think Kelly would have made a difference. Florida's more talented across the board, and as soon as Meyer did his "I don't know if I'm coming back" thing, they had all the desire to win that they needed.

Re: College Football 2009: Where Championships are won by a majority vote

Yeah, Kelly wasn't going to make a 5-touchdown (and counting) difference.

And Meyer could have stayed home and eaten Pudding Pops with his kids, and Florida still would have won this one.
