Re: College Football 2009: Bowl College Stupidity Rankings

So...do Cincy and TCU get any consideration?

Sorry, I almost wrote that with a straight face.

Re: College Football 2009: Bowl College Stupidity Rankings

did mack brown tell the NU coach "you won" there?

i guess from now on all incomplete passes are to stop the clock when the ball hits the ground or goes over the sideline?? i thought the clock went off the signal of the ref who had to wave there arms???

odd how things work out....

Re: College Football 2009: Bowl College Stupidity Rankings

Doesn't matter. Alabama's going to win by about 35.

Was that even reviewable by rule??

I wouldn't put that in stone. They looked like crap on defense against Auburn just a week ago, and they looked horrible in their last bowl appearance against Utah.

Re: College Football 2009: Bowl College Stupidity Rankings

Clemson stopped on 4th and 1 after getting 19 on 3rd and 20. Georgia Tech is ACC champs.

Re: College Football 2009: Bowl College Stupidity Rankings

With all the help from officiating they could barely win a de-facto home game against a team that lost to Iowa State.

Thank god the voters have no integrity.

And we'll never hear the end of it from the SEC crowd.

Georgia Tech is going to win.

I'll be happy if it's a 2-0 offensive garbage laden game.

Re: College Football 2009: Bowl College Stupidity Rankings

The worst part is if TCU was Miami, FSU, USC, etc..., they probably would have passed Texas weeks ago anyway.

That game was phenomenal. CJ Spiller is good at football.

ACC CHAMPS!!! Woot!

Re: College Football 2009: Bowl College Stupidity Rankings

So the bowls will look something like:

Alabama vs Texas

Sugar: Florida vs. TCU
Orange: Georgia Tech vs. Cincinnati
Fiesta: Boise State vs. Iowa/Penn State
Rose: Oregon vs. Ohio State

Re: College Football 2009: Bowl College Stupidity Rankings

Well who is the best undefeated team this year?

Alabama, Texas, TCU, Cincinnati, Boise State

Re: College Football 2009: Bowl College Stupidity Rankings

So Nebraska chokes away The Game Nobody Wanted To Win.

What a horrific offensive display by Nebraska. Then a dumb decision on the kickoff, an undisciplined penalty and then Texas tries to run the clock out on themselves.

Enjoy your national title Saban.

According to the rule book (3-3-2-d-4), the clock is stopped "when a pass is ruled incomplete," which I would interpret as being when the ref waves his arms or blows his whistle.

As for whether the clock is reviewable, rule 12-3-6 says "the replay official may correct egregious errors, including those of a game clock, whether or not the play was reviewable."

well the only replay i kept seeing was the clock superimposed over the ball going into the bench. i didn't see a shot of an official waving his arms.

but obviously it works in the favor of the big 12 to make sure they have a team in the national championship game, so whomever was deciding the outcome there knew what they were doing.
