Heh. This is the first recent time a school will be turning down a bowl bid and Lou Holtz doesn't have his drool in it somehow. His last game coaching had the Clemson/South Carolina brawl where both schools declined bowls back in 2004.

Of course, Holtz did claim the Irish would be in the BCS title game, so you really can't separate his slobber from Notre Dame.

My favorite part of that prediction is when he said Florida upsets Notre Dame to win the national championship. :D

* ND fan sends them a somewhat-vague e-mail from gmail claiming to be an insider and claiming that JS is going to interview Wisconsin's Bielema
* Another blog has some fun and tweets once or twice about hearing something about Bielema
* Rumor site runs with ND interest in Bielema
* "The Examiner" picks it up and runs with it
* NBC picks it up and runs with it
* ESPN picks it up and runs with it.

And as a result of this, a reporter actually asked Bielema about it. Priceless!

Wellll.... a blogger at ESPN.com mentioned it briefly and then realized it. It's not like it was the lead story on Sportscenter. Have to be careful how you phrase these things - that's how rumors get started! ;)

does the winner here win the big east?

or if cin is ranked higher in the next poll (i think they are #5 now, pitt is 15) would that team 'win'?

Winner takes the Big East, loser finds themselves in a non-1/1 bowl game.

The ACC and Big XII are the ones with the crazy stupid "BCS ranking" tiebreakers, I think.

Dropped passes and the defense being on the field too long is making this harder than it needs to be for Cincy.

Quick strike offense only works if you actually "strike".

I thought he said he wasn't going to talk about Notre Dame on Monday. The media kept asking him about it and he kept saying he wasn't going to talk about it. What else is he supposed to do?

His team looks just like Gary Darnell's Broncos did in 2000 when he spent the leadup to the MAC title game thinking more about possible jobs in North Carolina and Texas A&M than beating Central Michigan or Marshall.

He's mentally been in South Bend since Weis cleared out his fridge.

That INT was a huge mistake by Pike. They go down and get points there and Pitt is deflated going into the half.

Edit: Nevermind, Pitt just gives it back...
