College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

Re: College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

Congrats to Seth Greenberg & co. for knocking off another #1. Congrats even more because it was Duke. :p

Dear Indiana basketball,

The reason you stink is because it's cosmic payback for running Bobby Knight out of town. You'll never be relavent until you apologize and admit you were wrong.

BYU suspends arguably their 2nd best player last night for violating the honor code. Thoughts on how that will affect their seeding?

I read the honor code. I get what they're trying to do, but some of it is just silly.

A clean and well-cared-for appearance should be maintained. Clothing is inappropriate when it is sleeveless, revealing, or form fitting. Shorts must be knee-length or longer. Hairstyles should be clean and neat, avoiding extreme styles or colors, and trimmed above the collar, leaving the ear uncovered. Sideburns should not extend below the earlobe or onto the cheek. If worn, moustaches should be neatly trimmed and may not extend beyond or below the corners of the mouth. Men are expected to be clean-shaven; beards are not acceptable. Earrings and other body piercing are not acceptable. Shoes should be worn in all public campus areas.

I'll give you two guesses on who the person in this picture is. (No cheating.)

More specifically having sex before marriage.

At the same time, kids know the deal going in, so I'm not really sympathetic to anyone who breaks it. Don't want to be under those rules? Don't go to BYU.

I would have guessed wrong on the picture btw.

Even more specifically, getting his girlfriend pregnant.

And people think Tech has recruiting hurdles! I wouldn't trust anyone who would agree to that code of conduct BS. Not only can you not get some, the girls can't even dress in a way to give you ideas! Mormons make this world a worse place.

Re: College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

Wow... I think it's a pretty archaic rule in 2011, but I have to applaud them for holding to it rather than giving a star athlete special treatment.

Re: College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

I'm pretty proud of myself that I committed so many infractions at school, that I would have been kicked off of a major D1 basketball team about 10,000 times.

Spent a lot of time wearing short shorts?

Good thing WOW is not banned by Mormons or Techies would be in trouble.

So, the first passage in the applies to which sex if men are expected to be clean shaven?

Short shorts in Houghton? No, I don't think frost bite to the balls would feel nice.

My violations are in the consuming alcohol and caffeine categories, also the clean shaven bit, with a handful of pre-marrital sex.

I completely agree. I absolutely admire Brandon Davies and BYU for actually owning up to it, not turning a blind eye to the violation, and accepting the punishment. It's a bright spot in a dismal athletic atmosphere.

Re: College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

It actually ironic about this suspension with SI's investigation of all the issues with football players coming out.

I found it funny that on PTI today one thing that was mentioned is that other schools are going to use the honor code against BYU. I'm sure anyone that has interest in BYU is already aware of the code and is not surprised by it.

Steve Lavin just got tossed for saying "Why did you let that ref overrule you?" to another ref. That's a word for word quote. You could read his lips the whole time, no swearing or anything.

The Johnnies losing helps my Orange, but it's still a BS way to get tossed. If you are going to get run, get your money's worth.

Re: College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

The Johnnies are such a wild card in the tournament. They could go to the Final Four, or lose to someone like Belmont.
