College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

Re: College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

I knew they beat Virigina, ESPN has mentioned that about 47.8 million times. But I still see no reference to the no camera thing. I assume in '82 it wasn't televised.

Since it mentions that many newspaper folks were reportedly checking sources multiple times to make sure it was accurate Im assuming it was not televised.

Re: College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

Correct. IIRC, no one expected it to be anything but a complete blowout. Word didn't get out that Chaminade was that close until it was far too late. The game was over and from what I understand no footage of the game exists. I could be wrong though.

I don't know if anyone saw this or not but as we all know CC is known on this board for their hockey team. Well in men's b-ball they are division III and last week they knocked off Air Force in OT. It should be a long season for the Falcons.

Just got back from the Siena-Butler game. Man, Siena willingly tried to give away the game. The coach subbed out more than half of the starting lineup five or six minutes into the game with an 8 point lead. Plus, they committed way too many turnovers. It really seemed like they were trying to do everything they could to hand Butler the win.

Re: College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

Down goes sparty. Clearly not cut out for the big ten title.

Re: College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

The gophers are good? This just feels...wrong. Does this mean that now they fall into the other MN sports model and choke at the worst possible time?

Re: College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

They just don't know how to handle a team shooting 80+% from 3. Not a lot you can do except run your own offense better.

Its not choking when its the 7th game of the season missing 2 players including your best defender.

ETA: Shooting wild off target 3's without being set is not the answer. Too many young players on the court tonight.

MN was meant to lose when Virginia is shooting free throws at 14-18 and most of their players are 50-55% for the year from the FT. Plus 10-13 from 3.

Absolutely lights out shooting.

You mean like we're doing now?
I heard they blew it this morning. Thats kinda funny since it happened right after I posted that. :p
I can't watch a bouncyball game for more than about 45 seconds at a time without getting bored, so I switched the channel and watched Ice Dreams on FSN instead. Much more entertaining.

Re: College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

Was that game part of the Big-10/ACC challenge? I think this might be one of the last chances for the Big 10 for a while (Granted, last year was the first win) since Nebraska's automatic loss will be joining next year.

Re: College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

Big Ten is up 4-2 on the ACC. Tonight has:
Indiana-BC
NC State-Wisconsin
Purdue-VaTech
Maryland-Penn State
Michigan State-Duke

They only need two wins. Wisconsin should win, so they have four other games to scrape on victory from. Purdue is probably the best bet to do that.

Re: College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

I'd love to see State beat Duke. Doesn't Duke have some stupid 200 game non-conference home winning streak made up of about 192 bad teams and 8 decent matchups?

Re: College Basketball 2010-11: Headin' for Houston

I think it's at 80 something, but yeah, most of their high profile games are at neutral sites. The only premier games I remember being played at Duke have been part of the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.
