College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

Like I said, invite everyone. Make it a 256 team NCAA bracket and a 91 team NIT. Everyone is happy then.

They're not interested in making everyone happy. They're interested in making crappy big schools happy. All you need to know is that UNC is getting nowhere near this year's tournament, and that's why it needs to expand, because they beat Michigan State and Ohio State before they collectively gave up and died, and because of that, they deserve a shot at the NCAA's.

They don't give a **** if Vermont goes 28-3 and loses in the 1st round of their conference tournament. Michigan needs that bid.

UNC is in danger of missing the NIT

They'll be fine. There is always that other tournament for teams who didn't make the NIT. I'm sure they'd take UNC.

I didn't even realize there was a third (and *gasp* fourth) postseason tournament

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

This probably the last place where people should be *****ing about expanding the NCAA tournament to over 25% or participants to get more major conference teams into the tournament. :o

I was wondering when people were going to bring that up. I guess there is a minimum threshold for me when it comes to sports. If the number of teams is small, that means the talent isn't going to be spread thin. When you have 347 teams, the talent curve likely could be represented by an income curve for the US. Top 5% earn 50% of all the money (or whatever the numbers are, I really don't care to look them up). Maybe i'm back asswards on this but I think 64 and 16 are good numbers to use.

That's not even the dumbest thing he's done this year.

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

I think my personal favorite rant by Roy Williams was when people were questioning his use of timeouts and he went on that rant about how everyone thinks they could be a basketball coach.

Because at the end of the day, there's absolutely no one in the world that is smarter than Roy Williams thinks he is.

Nevermind. Finding a way to refer to himself in the third person during his halftime speech to retire Tyler Hanbrough's jersey just rocketed into the lead.

Roy, if your season has been like an earthquake in Haiti so far, I can't wait to hear how you describe it after tonight. Katrina? 9/11?

All's quiet in Chapel Hill tonight.

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

Honestly, if UNC doesn't make the NIT the people of chapel hill will probably rack up a pretty impressive death toll. But to compare it to haiti? yikes.

In what Boom will agree was the premiere Bay Area game last night, Stanford rallied from an 18 point deficit in the second half to beat WSU.

Hey. Everyone in the conference is really just killing time at this point until the week long mad scramble for that one bid the Pac-10 is getting.

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

I have to say, the Pac Ten men's race this season is one of the craziest conference races I've seen in a long time. For us ASU fans, we seem to go from thinking we're in the middle of the title race one week to being sure the season is shot the next week, and back and forth regularly.

True. And while certain teams will look better going into that week, we've seen anyone beat anyone, so it's really hard to say anyone's a lock or is out for sure. Should be fun!

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

Another must win tonight for Minnesota if they have any dreams of a tournament bid.

Minnesota (15-10, 6-7 Big Ten [6th]) has a few quality wins to hang their hat on. #12 Ohio State, #13 Butler, #16 Wisconsin. But it will need more as none of those were on the road or even at neutral sites.

They really need to go 4-1 (IND, PUR, @ILL, @MICH, IOWA) down the stretch and win a game or two in the Big Ten Conference tournament to help their bid.

Some other stats in their favor. RPI: 76, SOS: 45
