College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

Things look pretty bleak for Illinois right now, right?

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

So Duke gets the play-in game winner.

It's going to be fun when Duke loses in the second round.

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

Syracuse has to play Vermont, then possibly Gonzaga? Ouch.

Cornell is going to roll Temple.

Siena is going to beat Purdue.

Oakland is a very, very intriguing team.

I have limited knowledge about a number of these teams, but wouldn't you rather get Duke's draw than Kansas's? Doesn't Duke have the easiest draw, when they're such a borderline No. 1?

I didn't notice this, but Minnesota gets to start in Milwaukee for the first 2 rounds. Talk about a nice short trip for the home fans. Xavier can't be happy with that. Although Ohio isn't that far away either.

They were the #3 seeded 1 seed, meaning they were not borderline. But the top 2 seeds do have a bit harder roads.

It's reassuring that Calipari is going to do his opponent scouting via DirecTV's Mega March Madness. Great things will happen for UK as a result. They may even become a perennial contender!

I'll bet you an internet dollar that Temple wins that game. Sound defensive team...unlikely to underestimate Cornell because they have a very experienced coach who happened to coach in the Ivy League until recently...in my opinion, not a great upset candidate.

I am so sick of Vermont. I have this fear that this will be the year of the #16 beating a #1 seed.

What's the ratio of internet dollars to Schrutte bucks?

To me, Virginia Tech and Mississippi State were the toughest to leave out, but that's what happens when you have upsets in the conference tournaments.

Two of Cornell's losses this year have come to tourney #1 seeds (Kansas and Syracuse). They took Kansas all the way down to the wire, both Wittman, Dale, and Foote are good, good players. Cornell plays solid defense and will have a ton of time between games so they'll be well rested and prepared. I think Cornell will beat Temple quite handily.

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

I would never have guessed at the beginning of the season that Marquette would get a 6 seed - same as last year when they had James, McNeal and Matthews. Great year for the Golden Eagles.

btw, I am making my picks and it pains me, deep down inside, to pick West Virginia. I think I may have even softened on Harangody slightly, since he was hurt and hardly played against MU this year. But Bob Huggins hatred lasts a lifetime.

I think Cornell and Gonzaga got the raw deal with seeds. The Big Red should have been a 10 while Gonzaga was the #14 team in the country and got an 8 seed? Puzzling.

I do see Siena beating Purdue. Not having Hummel hurts the Fighting Rick Mounts chances.
