College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

Generic Catchy Message
Not too many upsets so far.

An odd thing I saw though is that Michigan plays Nothern Michigan tonight, but it counts as a regular season game. I didn't believe it when I saw Michigan's schedule, so I looked on NMU's to see if they had it labeled as an exhibition, but they also had it listed as a regular season, along with a game against Wisconsin-GB. I didn't think interdivsion games in the NCAA could count as regular season in any sport besides football.

So, any Wildcat fans with Big Ten Network can see NMU take on UM tonight.

It shouldn't count towards NCAA basketball tournament selection. It HAS to be an exibition.

Aside from Rider's win, there hasn't been any big surprises.

Maybe we will see some come the Thanksgiving tournaments.

I expect Tubby ball to be even better this season than last. Although beating Tennessee Tech is not a good indicator.

It looks like it counts. UM has an exhibition listed for Wayne State, and Green Bay has exhibitions for Duluth and St. Norbert, but there is no label for the NMU game on either schedule.

As for upsets, Cornell beat Alabama, but I don't follow the SEC too much, so I don't know how good 'Bama is.

It can count against the allowed game totals though... but yeah, only games against D-1 teams are factored into the RPI.

Cornell beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa today. That was pretty cool.

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

Hard to think UM couldn't get SOME patsy to play that does count. I like supporting state teams, but that is silly.

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

Gonzaga of the East started off nicely last night beating Tennessee State like an inbred child.

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

They the favorite in the Ivy?
I assume they have to be. Two-time defending champions and graduated almost nobody last year. Most of the starters are seniors now so if they're going to win a game or two in the NCAAs then this is the year. (Or if they want to upset Syracuse in a few weeks.)

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

Michigan sucks.... They only beat us by 47 :p

Re: College Basketball 2009-10: The Road to the Road to Lucas Oil

If they've already lost to LeMoyne can you really call it an upset?
Given that the all-time record against SU is 31-85, any win is an upset.

The word around here is that the Gophers are supposed to be pretty good this year. Just like the football team and hockey team...

24 hours of basketball starts in about 2 hours.

Besides MSU-Gonzaga, the game I'm most looking forward to is Monmouth@St. Peters, starting at 6am. That's right: 6am. I guess both schools are bringing their bands and cheerleaders, and St. Peters is having a huge all night pep rally for the students.

Small schools will do anything to get on National TV I guess... This is a cool thing IMO though... College students are creative and used to being up past dawn the following day  :p :D

ESPN must chuckle at all the power they have

College football (with fewer teams and far fewer games played) has more compelling games in September than basketball does in November. Despite this ESPN still finds it necessary to air double-friggin-headers.
