Colgate and Starr's last season

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Well I'm just hoping we don't get swept this weekend and can keep all games close. Obviously an upset would be great but we are 0-2 against the big green this year. Best of luck in Hanover rainman maybe you can bring some luck again.

The actual ice construction in the arena will start on 3/21 so not much to see inside so far.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

We had our best weekend of the year last weekend, Finn was great. Keep the momentum going and start a little run. I think we match up well against Dartmouth who hasen't won in awhile. Not happy with the ECAC and 10 bucks a game, and ASN for Placid, we don't even get the channel, what a joke, ECAC just doesn't get it.

I agree - playoff games should be streamed free as they are during the season from Campus Insiders, etc. FWIW, shabby, you might want to email Ed Krajewski at ECAC HQ on the ECAC website (drop down menu). I've contacted him previously and he's been good about getting back to me. He probably can't help out, but it never hurts to lodge a complaint. I'm planning on doing so, although it will no doubt get me nowhere :(

I already emailed Commissioner Krajewski concerning the current playoff viewing setup. He thanked me for my feedback but provided no other information. As a Yale fan I was actually excited for a couple of days when I thought I could view the first round games on ILDN, Clarkson and RPI streams. The ECAC just does not get that more exposure will result in a better league. I wonder how much they will make with the current setup where some parents and a few hardcore fans will pay $20 to $30 per series. I also think they should have an all-access discounted pass if they are going to continue with this poor excuse of a post season internet presence. I wonder if they have to pay Clarkson, RPI and the other home schools for the use of their equipment and announcers?

Good luck this weekend, i will be checking in on the radio broadcasts.

Count me among the many that doesn't like having to fork over $10 per playoff game, especially when we can watch many regular season games for free!   Hockey East is also charging $10 per playoff game for the 1st and 2nd rounds.

Regarding ASN - the American Sports Network is not a physical cable/satellite channel, but rather they sell their productions to local affiliates. Here in New England, the ASN games usually air on NESN or their overflow channel, NESN Plus. But given the fact that NESN televises the Hockey East Championships every weekend, the ECAC Lake Placid games may not make it to live TV here in the New England region, although it's a step up from the past 2 years when Fox College Sports had the TV rights (the FCS channels aren't even HD - last season I DVR'd both of Colgate's games to watch during the offseason, and they were a small window with $**tty picture quality on my large-screen television).

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

RPI TV released a statement that they won't do the broadcast.

The ECAC is run by incompetents with a septuagenarian mindset. I wouldn't give them a cent.

If it's anything like last year, you could probably use poor coding choices to access it. ;)

Well, there goes my perfect record in playoff OT games :(

Can't complain about the team but the outcome is like every other game this year. Close but no cigar. Frustrating but we are looking good

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

The team looked good last night with some fire for the playoffs. It was fun to watch this senior class play with pep carried over from last week. A few juicy rebounds left out and a dismal 3rd period being outshot 3:1 seemed to be the deciding factors. With the 7-0-0 stat this year leading after two, I really thought we had it. Hope they can put it behind, continue the effort and finish on opportunities tonight.

Go 'Gate!

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Looks like we ran out of gas AGAIN in the third being outshot badly. Four lines vs three just doesn't cut it.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Listened to KXZ between periods last night and didn't hear John McGraw ('Gate Radio). Hope all is well with him!

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

We're the only road team to win in the 1st round, and the only series to go the full 3 games. Give it everything you've got tonight, 'Gate!

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

The Seniors are amazing!!! Darcy has been so close in finding the back of the net and finally was "rewarded" for his efforts with the game winning goal!!!! Charlie played great! Great team effort!!!! Looking forward to the rubber game of the match! GO 'GATE! GO 'GATE! GO 'GATE!

I, too, was puzzled not to hear GR doing the call. I think that was the voice of Skip Barlow?, the previous Raider broadcaster. Hope GR is OK, just letting Skip take over in the post-season and not traveling to Hanover for some reason.

Nice win. Gotta keep up the energy tonight and Charlie has to have another super game!

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Shabby....no, I'm in Hamilton.....went to the Aretha Franklin concert in the Field House last night......kept checking the scores on my phone. Going to Rusch's today to watch the game with other CU hockey fans!!
BTW, it is not Skip Barlow on the radio.....it is Kenny Copps, the ticket manager.
Go 'Gate!!!

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

It's nothing serious. I have a full-time job outside of broadcasting. Over the last 2.5 years in working at my current job, I have been extremely lucky in getting all of the time off I need to go on the road to cover the games. There are not many employers who will let you miss, in the second half what amounted to nearly every other Friday and occasional Thursday afternoons. Unfortunately, this week just ended up being a situation where I wasn't able to get Friday off to go to Hanover. These things happen. Thanks for all your support. Should the team be victorious today, I will do my best to make it to Hamden next week.
