Colgate and Starr's last season

Qpac was not overly impressive compared to PC the week before, that being said they did what needed to be done....win. This is something we just can't do anymore versus top 15 teams. I am fairly certain we have not beat a top 15 team (tournament team at years end) since 2013-14. This pattern is holding true this year as we are 0-3 at home vs top teams. You look across the league tonight and you see Cornell get a late win,
Clarkson fight for a tie late and Yale fight to get a tie late on the road, we just don't seem to have that fight in us anymore. At 3-5 this looks like a .500 team right now

Quinnipiac was coming off a bye week so its very possible there was some rust there.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

For two straight games, we've held serve at home against at top-5 team at home, only to lose by 1 goal. It's a good sign, but I must agree with previous posts here - while it's early in the season, if we can't put together a handful of W's, this will be a disappointing season.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

All in all a very good effort last night. We controlled puck possession in the first, some good chances with nothing to show for it. Oddly enough we outscored Q-Pac 2-1 in the second but they badly outplayed us. Think shots were 7-4 for us in the third but Q-Pac scored the winner and we couldn't respond.

It would be easy to get down and frustrated on this team, like some, but put things into perspective. We have three frosh defensemen playing against the likes of #2 Providence, and #5 Q-pac, both undefeated and great teams. These results were expected, maybe even worse. These games will only help these young defensemen as it takes awhile to adjust. Yes, I left the game bummed last night but today in retrospect, reality rearing it's ugly little head. Let's beat the teams were supposed to beat, starting tonight.

I agree wholeheartedly with everything Shabby said. Go 'Gate!!!!!

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

It's Cornell week!

Was wondering if anyone knew what the longest unbeaten streak Colgate has ever had in Ithaca? I know this four year stretch is the longest I can remember (I go back to 2000). Even when we were good we lost at Lynah.

Red, here's the link to the record book... http://gocolgateraiders.com/documents/2015/7/30/Men_sHockey.pdf

Cornell series is listed out on p. 33 & 34. A quick scan doesn't show any longer streaks, but I didn't look closely. Must admit a couple of the ties the last few years have been frustrating as they should've been wins!

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

We haven't lost at Lynah since 2010-11. We won there 2-1 in 2011-12 (the year of the Austin Smith/Chris Wagner show), and we've tied them 2-2 in Ithaca in each of the last 3 seasons. Last year's graduating class never lost in that lion's den of a rink.

This year, we play at Lynah on Friday the 13th ... Colgate day!

It's tied for the most if you go by the number of games, but you have to go all the way back to 1933-44 with 3 wins and a tie. Plenty of 3-streaks in there, but nothing longer.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

This is also Odd Friday: 11-13-15. Maybe this will also bring us luck? (Next one is in about 200 years I read somewhere) :)

Huge weekend in Central NY, besides Cornell home & home football has Lehigh Saturday for the PL championship & Men's Soccer hosts the PL championships Friday & Sunday. Let's hope Odd Friday is a good omen!

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season
