Colgate and Starr's last season

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

I think we go with Finn again. You need to trust/have faith in your #1 goaltender.

Meanwhile, the Colgate football team just gave us a treat on this Halloween afternoon ... after withstanding Fordham's "tricks"...

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

This season, PC has one blowout and one tight game per weekend.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Much better game by the entire team. Still disappointed with the loss but feeling better after the hustle

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

:(

We're still early into the season, but twice we've scored 3 goals and lost. This only happened once last season (coincidentally, a 4-3 loss to Providence). Is Ryan Johnston's early departure coming back to bite us?

It sure hasn't helped that he left. Streamed the game last nite, after my heart had a meltdown at the Fordham game. Was glad to see more hustle and what seemed like a lot more energy than Friday nite. The players woke up and realized they were playing the reining National Champions. Hopefully these tests help us in facing QU on Friday.....and no letdown vs Princeton on Sat.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Thrilling fb game, congrats to all! Should never have been that close, though! Raiders are in the driver's seat; the PL Title is ours to lose.

It is early yet, but I feel desperate and frustrated! Did not catch either game, but 10 goals given up by Finn...glad to see the Spinks on the scoresheet. A much more respectable game on Sat. from the looks of things. Would like to beat a ranked team sometime; we'll get our chances in league play I guess but it's more fun with perhaps stronger implications if they're OOC.

And despite barraging Union 60-18 in shots, the women only salvage 2 ties against the Capital District. Defense/Rando need a boost but like the improvements so far and the freshmen recruits!

The NHF looking larger than life! Unreal.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

We lost two games that could have seriously helped the PWR down the road as I believe PC will be a top Hockey East team and tournament team for sure. Johnston's departure is hurting for sure but that is not the only problem. Finn is not playing nearly as well as he did as a freshmen and I haven't been excited over Hamilton's play either when he has came in to relieve Finn. Remember last year against Yale he only let in 2 goals on 38 shots in his first game ever. I would have put Racine in on Saturday to give him a shot to prove himself.

We lost two games to SCSU 2 years ago at home and made the NCAAs at about the same time of year. There will be plenty of opportunities to dig ourselves out as the ECAC is very strong but right now this a 6-9 team in the league. There is just no way we are better than Harvard, Yale, SLU, Quinnipiac, or Clarkson as of now. Cornell also looks like they will be solid and RPI looks like they can beat or lose to anybody. We can right the ship this weekend with two wins but Quinnipiac is as good as anybody right now. Last year we were blown out 5-0 to them when we were ranked number 4 in the country.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Impressive offense but struggling defense. Good news, we were 2/8 on the pp but only 2/7 on the pk.
Congrats to WHockey...ranked #13 this week!

And after losing twice to St. Cloud at home, we opened league play with a 7-2 loss to Quinnipiac. This year, we lost 7-2 to Providence. Perhaps a 2nd-half run similar to 2013-14 is in store for us this year.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Heisenberg has a new batch of blue coming, oops, wrong Heisenberg. We have four forwards and four defenseman already coming for next year, plus four more for 2017 including a 6-4 goaltender! Who says a new rink doesn't help, we need bodies. Another huge game vs Q-Pac #5 nationally and Princeton was tied with Yale with three minutes left before losing. They beat Maine the next night, no gimmees this year.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Four players from the AJHL coming in the next two years. I don't remember us recruiting much from that league, am I wrong? Colton Point at 6'4" - 220 lbs will certainly fill up the '65 Arena net :)

Heisenberg's list doesn't include Adam Dauda either. However, it should be noted that Tyler Cosgrove is a 2017 recruit (Heisenberg lists him as a 2016 recruit). But we still have 8 players signed on for next year (5 forwards and 3 d-men), and another 5 players committed for 2017 (2 forwards, 2 d-men, and 1 goalie). So the new rink, our recent success, and (IMO) both Chris Wagner and Kyle Baun's professional success is helping our recruiting.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Other than the post-season when was the last time we faced the #3 and #5 ranked teams at Starr within a week of one another?

In 2013, we hosted St. Cloud for two games the last weekend of October (ranked #10), then hosted Quinnipiac the first Friday of November (then ranked #7). We lost all 3 games, but we know how that season ended. Perhaps hosting Providence x2 then the Bobcats bodes well for us this year?

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Kinda bored today, here's some trivia. Who was the player that captained both, football and hockey teams ?

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

New pics are up on the Colgate Hockey twitter site of the new arena. Roof seems to be coming along well, hopefully closed in by the time the snow shows up so they can make some progress on the inside.

Re: Colgate and Starr's last season

Very encouraging game, but they have to put up some W's. If they play like they did the past two games they will win a lot of games. But 3-5 is not good. Very upsetting, we have to get back to 500 quick, otherwise we won't even sniff the NCAA
