Colgate 22-23

Great game at Ingalls. I'll be interested to hear Tchr B's comments. Perfect except for two bad goals scored with less than 10 seconds to go in each of the 2nd and 3rd periods...Yale will drop in rankings, we'll move up, E Biederman will be the ECAC frosh of the week (she is exciting!) and Darcie Lappan of Clarkson will be the one we should have tried to keep at home...tied for the lead in scoring at C and right behind Danielle for the league lead...Clarkson is starting to play very well. Nothing new. Now a month off.

Lappan came into Colgate with high accolades and it never carried over to Colgate. Read the box score and I see both California girls scored.

Biederman our new ECAC rookie of week along with Tanner Gates who was named ECAC D player of the week and also had a great weekend. EB had a blast for a goal against Yale which was very pretty, but I particularly loved her following/rebound shots v Brown all of which resulted in goals. She is fantastic down low coming in after a shot and we need her there as she is really quick and has great hands. Lurking in the area right outside the crease she will become a nightmare for opposing D and goalies and score a ton of goals for us...

Oldtimer do I know you, or you me ? I like your posts, you say things only an ex player would know.

The Colgate-Yale game was pretty even across the board in terms of shots and play up and down the ice. You wouldn't have known who was winning if you didn't look at the scoreboard. Yale had quite a few breakaway or grade A scoring chances that they didn't convert on. On this day, Colgate converted more of these. Will be fun to watch these teams as the season goes on. That's how hockey goes. The game could have gone either way.

tedlasso you are absolutely right, it was just one game and proves nothing. That said, it was the first time in a while we have had any luck against you guys which made it very sweet. You and QPac are two tough as nails teams that take everything we have and usually come down to the last 5 minutes of the 3rd or OT. See you again at our place in the spring for the next installment.

Shabby, we don't know each other personally just through the Gate men's site. I grew up in northern NY a player and huge fan prior to Gate. While in Hamilton I caught every game I could and we were good and the games sellouts. Later I played off and on as an adult sandwiched around working, raising my kids and eventually coaching youth hockey. I discovered Gate women's hockey while they were still Division III when a friend's daughter played. I came to love it because it's less dependent on raw power and physicality and you can see the plays develop a bit better. Unfortunately, I'm now not able to get to many games as I live on the Cape in MA but love ESPN+. I'm also a huge Bruins and Devils fan. Great year for all my favorites so far...

So you grew up in Canton ? I played hockey at Canton ATC in 1970 and 1971, we played at Appleton and were NJCAA national champions both yrs !

Even though she's now getting her MBA at Providence, Nemo keeps on giving to Gate. She scored the game winning goal today against QPac in what amounted to Qpacs first home loss of the season. Will be interesting to see if hurts them/helps us in polls on Monday. Providence played them very tough yesterday too eventually losing 2-3.

Colgate drops to No. 6, which is exactly where I’ve said they should be, 6-7-8 range. The 2-game loss to OSU was very telling. Yale win was hard fought but forgive me for saying the Bulldogs had a bad game in goal. We were already shut out at Qpac and now need to salvage a split. Harvard game still leaves me shaking my head. Am on the fence about our goaltending; thought Murphy would be invincible but not quite.

I think Biederman has figured out how to be more effective in the college game and that she could be a presence in the second half. Watched Providence #9 play QPac even last weekend and felt we were better than Yale 10 days ago. So CQY are a dead heat for me. The top 2 will end up playing each other probably (Northeastern?) in March to make the Frozen Four. Clarkson still hasn't peaked nor has Cornell. How we play RPI in Jan out of the gate will be telling.

Nice visibility in last night's Can v US Rivalry Series win for Danielle S who was one of only two additions for the last two games in the series in Vegas and LA. She got good playing time, played well on the second line which scored the game winner, got interviewed and got her bio posted. More than a rookie could expect. Looking forward to next weeks last game in the series.

Big player, big goal. Danielle S for OT winner in LA.
I loved how US D left her alone going in assuming
she'd make a roomie mistake and she roofed it over Hensley's blocker shoulder. Good omen for second half.
