Colgate 22-23

The other ECAC games had almost no penalties called, and there's supposed to be no bodychecking, there was checking all over in the Gate game three I saw. Why change the officiating in the playoffs, I don't get it ?

I watched a good deal of all 3 games and it was like the League office said: Don't penalize unless someone has to be arrested for assault and battery (although some of the checks were awfully close to that).

I think that the standards seem to be changing on what is called as 'bodychecking'. I have watched a lot of games this year and have seen a lot of very good clean hits (by standards of men's college hockey rules) that I expected to be called but were not. Generally, I think that this somewhat relaxed standard improves the game but I wonder if officials are really communicating the change clearly to coaches and players? Refs do seem to be consistent in calling 'boarding', but I am not clear on what is an allowed vs disallowed 'bodycheck'.

It’s possible the refs are hesitant to pull out the whistle late in the 3rd in a decisive game three.
Imo Kalty is opportunistic; she falls to the ice and embellishes the hits she receives more than most. She did it a lot in this series hoping for a call.

Could not remember specifics about the NCAA bracket. Seeds are 1-5, with 6 at-large I believe? That 4-5 bracket last year, grrr.

WIH front page on ncaa.com. Writer picks Minnesota to win it all. Would say the comment about Colgate goaltending is accurate and is our biggest concern. Not sure I agree with Northeastern in the Top 4 given their SOS, but they went deep last year and can beat anybody. Would be amazing for Colgate to get home ice again.

See the Pairwise Predictor Thread
If all of the higher seeds in the current Pairwise win out the bracket would look like this however Clarkson and Penn State would likely be switched per TTT to avoid a first round ECAC intraleague game.

I ran many scenarios, even one with us losing to Q-Pac this weekend. We still got the #4 seed. If we beat Q-Pac AND Yale we get a #2 seed. Beat Q and lose to Yale we still are #4. Out of ALL the scenarios I ran, we never finished lower than #4 seed.

Doesn't mean I'm right, will run more all week. Looks to me that a home ice NCAA game in Hammy next weekend.

Colgate needs to win at least as many games this weekend as Wisconsin does to be entirely safe. The only scenarios I found that lead to Colgate dropping to #5 involve Wisconsin winning more games than the Raiders. That isn't a guarantee that they finish ahead of you, but they can do it. You're out-of-conference rooting interests this week are for Minnesota to beat Wisconsin and Northeastern to win Hockey East.

The only way I could get Colgate out of fourth was for Wisco to upset Ohio State in the finals and we lose to Q-Pac. We beat Q-Pac and it doesn't matter how Wisco does. Even if we lose to Q today Wisco still has to beat Minny and Ohio State. So if W loses today I think we're in, even if Northeastern wins their tourney.

Why would we be rooting for Northeastern ?

Third time is the charm! Great game, great pressure when it was needed. It will be a tough one against Tech tomorrow as they are playing well, but so are we. If we play like today we win! I love the Chan, Brick, Smigs line. Relentless and it's paying off...

Let’s hope that charm doesn’t work for Clarkson. Chan is just a pistol and so fun to watch! Wish Kalty could stay out of the box.

Q had 65 shots; we blocked 20. Q also won the f/o battle, 38-26 and scored a ppg. There is always work to do. Angers did not look solid in goal and gave up 2 soft, backhanded goals imo. Clarkson has David, McQuigge (x2), Gosling…and Colgate transfer (why…?) Lappan. Their team always finds ways to win. They outshot Yale 31-25 and scored a ppg. Thankfully we scored some much needed 5x5g tonight. New season, anybody’s guess. Murphy got the nod today, so…? One of her better games with only 1 gaa.
Congrats to Serdachny winning POTY, FOTY, Wayne Dean Sportsmanship Award, & Kazmaier finalist. Such an amazing student-athlete! Her stats are Olympic!

Running the pairwise predictor, a win today and we're seeded #2 with many scenarios run. A loss and we're #4 seed, both with a home game next saturday in the NCAA's.

A great win against a great rival. This one was not reflective of what has been or will be. I think Darcie left for more playing time which she got and thrived, congrats to her...sitting on #3 pair wise, we host and hopefully dodge Northeastern and Clarkson again early...

Almost certainly, Wisconsin and the NEWHA winners play at Colgate Thursday, with Colgate getting the winner Saturday.

3-Peat!

ColgateW playing their best hockey! Wonder if Clarkson did us a favor yesterday. We’ll take it!
Hope we’re just getting started.
Congratulations, Colgate! CU in Hamilton!
