Colgate 2021-22

As we’ve said for four or five seasons now, these kids just don’t give up. And I appreciate the fact that the coaches believe in them, but I don’t want us to bank on them pulling it out every game. Wow!
It is weird watching a game on ESPN+ tonight, as I am normally at their game (or doing something totally different). But, the misguided weather forecast got me this weekend. I had it on my big screen, until it quit. In the time it took me to bring it up on my phone, I missed the first ‘Gate goal. Sheesh! Then I noticed that when I am watching it on PPV, I tend to do other things at the same time (so I am lucky to see goals on instant replay). And then I yell at the screen when the announcer keeps saying ‘Bell-ped-io’ instead of ‘Bell-pee-dio’ like I learned it. Anyway, it was a totally different experience for me tonight (but ultimately a fun one).

Games they were losing in November and December are now 1-goal victories...kudos to the program for turning what could've been a very disappointing season into one of promise...Benson solid, contributions from everyone...no matter what happens tonight a good way to enter the playoffs...

We are getting contributions from everyone, Mandervile is playing his best hockey, and he's a big boy, two assists last night. Nice to have some size on powerplays, screening and not being moved in front. I think he's starting to be a key player for us.
BTW...beat Q-Pac tonight and Princeton beats Cornell and we get a first round bye. Not likely but possible, that's why they play the games.

Let’s go gate, let’s go Princeton. Let’s just worry about our game cause Cornell can easily lose to Princeton (not a dig at Cornell just in general I think Princeton is a decent team)

Quinnipiac homer announcers muted.
RPI lost.
Cornell won.
Colgate lost.
Yale lost.
Dartmouth in overtime (with Union).
Looks like 5th place in ECAC Hockey for ‘Gate.
Looks like hosting 12th place Dartmouth next weekend.

As we turn the page to a new month, and the Groundhog sees his shadow, I see the fortunes of 'Gate hockey changing radically. That OT win over Dartmouth will propel us to a higher standard of play. I see us taking 1 out of 2 against Cornell and an upset win over QU, plus an OT tie vs Clarkson. Call me an optimist - ya gotta keep the faith. The kids are playing their hearts out. It's gonna be a new day, a new month, and a new series of positive results on the ice.

I wasn't totally on the money with my prediction, but pretty close. February has been good to us...

I believe we play yale, yale and Dartmouth series yale won in OT And Dartmouth won in regulation meaning the green beat Yale 4-2 in points.

Red, you are probably right. I just went off CHN app which had Yale in 11th with 21 points and Dartmouth in 12th with 21 points.
They probably didn't figure the tie-breakers into consideration. Thanks.

From Colgate...

The fifth-seeded Raiders will host No. 12 Yale in a best two-out-of-three first round series of the ECAC Tournament at the Class of 1965 Arena beginning this Friday, March 4 at 7 p.m. Game 2 is Saturday, March 5 at 7 p.m. and game 3, if necessary, would be Sunday, March 6 at 5 p.m.

Tickets are available tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to season ticket-holders and on Tuesday to the general public.

We can't afford to take Yale lightly. They can be a nasty team for us to beat over the years. They went up and beat Clarkson in Potsdam last wekend. We gotta take a deep breath and....bring it....

Did not expect the team to finish in the top 6 after the way we got bounced in our tournament of 4 teams last year. Very happy for them. Regret to say I have little confidence in Benson. Lost count how many times he has given up a goal in the first or last minute of a game or period. His GAA can't be good. Like our chances vs. Yale, but it could be much closer than we're expecting for a #5 v #12 matchup. Psyched to play in Hamilton one last weekend. Wish WIH tons of luck.

It has been a while but this long time transplanted Cape Cod fan is rooting for a sweep of the Eli's this weekend so they can go to Ithaca while our women fight through QPac and then probably the Elis in the ECAC finals in New Haven... If the women can get by QPac on Friday, even if they lose in the finals they should get the nod for the NCAAs. Go Gate!

I think you’re being a little too hard on Benson, Bill. He’s played pretty well down the stretch. GAA 2.67, save % .911 - not all that bad.

I agree with Magoo. I have been pretty satisfied with our goaltending by Mitch Benson, Andrew Farrier and Carter Gylander. Heck, I am even high on Will Friend. To my knowledge, he has let in just one goal during his entire four-year career!!

Benson has been great down the stretch. If I had a concern for anything it is the rebound control at times. Sometimes it seems like he places rebounds out in the open or can’t cover the puck up. But you can’t complain about the results
