Colgate 2021-22

Tonight is the game that could change everything. As noted clarkson is one of the hottest teams in the league (let’s not forget we are pretty hot right now too). Any points against clarkson is a bonus and then we have to do one better than Cornell against St. Lawrence. RPI is also three points back but we just need to tie them (much like Cornell).

if we get two points from clarkson it is a massive win, one point is a win and 0 is a wash as I think most teams get 0.

From the Clarkson side of things - this weekend has historically been a disappointment. Even in years where Clarkson has come in the better team, they have not had much success in Hamilton or Ithaca. As much as I'd like to think they will stay hot, I would not be at all surprised if they end up on the short end of things. Wish I were going but am out of town for the weekend.

Three points would be better ! :D

Mitch Benson is in goal for ‘Gate.
Ethan Haider in goal for Clarkson.

Clarkson scores first on 4-on-4 with beautifully set-up goal.

Clarkson 9, Colgate 6, SOG after one.
Clarkson 1, Colgate 0, score after one.

One could see Clarkson’s second goal coming from a mile away.

Colgate 17, Clarkson 17, SOG after two.
Clarkson 2, Colgate 0, score after two.

Mitch Benson is getting no defensive support. Clarkson scores again. And again.

Alex Young from Colton Young puts Colgate on the board.

Colgate 28, Clarkson 22, final SOG.
Clarkson 4, Colgate 1, final score.

Clarkson was very impressive. They pass the puck well, play solid D, don’t turn it over much and absolutely shut down any real scoring chances for Colgate. Through the first two periods I don’t think we really had one legit scoring opportunity. I hope to see them make the NCAAs. Good news is Cornell is in a free fall.

StillEmptyNet, you are spot-on with your analysis of tonight’s game. We were out-played from the first puck-drop. When did we ping one off the pipe? Third period? Throughout most of the game, we were just happy touching the puck, let alone controlling it. And Cornell’s free-fall isn’t good news, it is great news.

agree with the above...Clarkson is playing very well right now and the defensive lapses we committed may be consequence-free against the likes of Dartmouth, RPI, Union and Brown, but not against a skilled Golden Knights team...and frankly, I don't think we played very well period...however, IF Clarkson beats Cornell tonight and we get three against SLU (these games are always close) I think we'll be tied with the Big Red and hold the tiebreaker...we simply have to play at a higher level on Saturday...

Senior Will Friend is in goal for ‘Gate.
Seniors were honored pre-game.
Saint Lawrence goal at 1:05 of first.
Senior Mitch Benson replaced Colgate’s Friend.

Colgate had a couple of great chances but couldn’t capitalize. And Mitch Benson stood on his head a couple of times.

Colgate 9, Saint Lawrence 9, SOG after one.
Saint Lawrence 1, Colgate 0, score after one.

Senior Griffin Lunn with a beauty at 1:02 of second period.

Senior Josh McKechney scored a minute later.

SLU’s Emil Zetterquist screened and Colgate’s Tommy Bergsland scored.

Colgate 27, Saint Lawrence 19, SOG after two.
Colgate 3, Saint Lawrence 1, score after two.

26 seconds left and puck takes an odd bounce from behind the net into the crease. Chaos ensued and Saint Lawrence scored. Play under review.

Colgate ENG!!

Colgate 36, Saint Lawrence 29, final SOG.
Colgate 4, Saint Lawrence 2, final score.

Well DV picked one hell of a time to put him in goal...and the call was appropriate...dressing 5 defensemen? why? punishment for last night? Anderson not playing? LWB not playing? What is this tonight, Little League try outs? They're certainly playing like it...

Will Friend certainly deserves the start, IMO. Another observation - we definitely have the absolute BEST announcer in the ECAC, if not all of college hockey. Thank you John, for your unrivaled single man coverage.

frankly, I would've played the young man if we had the game in hand...no disrespect, but let's take care of business first...and perhaps, after one of the better periods they've played this year, we will...fourth place IS in reach...

Our third periods are always interesting...a win we really needed and a very good second period...third period lead protection still shaky, but we got the points...Brandon one very good defenseman...
