Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

Could be a season of near misses. Finn is backkkkkkkkkkkk ! We can't play %25 of the time a man down like this past weekend. It wears you down and takes away scoring time. It was 0-0 with two mins left. so close, all in the learning process I assume. Dartmouth beat Michigan.

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

Looking at box scores of other games, lots of teams racking up penalty minutes. We need better leadership from our captain. Freeman sounds like a loose cannon! We reward ourselves with a 5x3 by taking a penalty? Sad. On the bright side, Finn is standing tall and wide, great freshmen presence, love the uniforms...and Qpac has had its worst weekend in several years ;-)

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

I am encouraged by the overall play of the team this weekend. Obviously Charlie Finn is the super star and I also think there was some good play, especially by the frosh and sophomores in the Dartmouth game. It is early in the season, so I hope we can all be patient and lend support to our young team. Go 'Gate!!!

As you might well guess from my user name I am a Harvard fan but just wanted to say that your goalie Finn is a miracle worker. The box score says Harvard had 45 shots on goal but I am sure that there were some Harvard shots that did not make the shot counter. Despite that Finn held us to 1 goal. Amazing work! The kid must be a bit shell shocked after that but he stayed steady all game.

Have a good hockey season Colgate!!

Get used to this, it's now a commonality across the NCAA. There is zero tolerance for the obstruction and stick penalties (at least in most games). I'm a little surprised, with the amount of time played in October, the team didn't adjust to it.

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

Not much talk for this weekend.... Yale has had our number for quite some time but they are unproven with a win over rpi and shu and a loss to a good union team. The bad news that nobody is talking about is that last week we only had one goal on the weekend and currently rank 50th averaging 2.14 gpg. I am not expecting much at Yale even though they are "down" this year compared to previous years, but it is a must win at Brown the next night. Getting points each weekend is a must if this team is to finish somewhere between five and eight. Hopefully Finn comes out hot again AND our Offense shows up too.

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

Looked great from my barstool at Rusch's. Women also came back for the 4-3 win... a Yale sweep!

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

Way to go, 'Gate! Scrappy, opportunistic team with amazing defense. Score on your breakaways and stay out of the box! Congrats to the women's team, tough task next weekend. One game at a time.

Maine beat #5UML...every little bit helps down the PWR road!

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

Last night was our first win at Yale since March 1, 2009! It was just our 3rd win at the Whale since the start of the 2005-06 season. Maybe something good will come out of this season after all!

I'll be driving down to Providence for this afternoon's game. Hopefully this momentum carries over!

Someone please tell Gate Radio that it's Gagnon as in Gan Yon, not Gag non, ouch.

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

Another 36 saves for Finn, and 2 goals on the PP? Great win :)

Puck drop is 4:00 today? Gonna be a tough turnaround, especially since this is a fantastic opportunity for 4-point road weekend

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

Except for a 10 to 12 minutes period in the third, very solid, generally disciplined...referees are still very tight in their officiating, some ticky tack calls on The Gate and, frankly, I thought the 5-minutes major call on Yale at the end should've been 2 minutes...this team has bought into DV's defensive approach and we can legitimately skate four lines...Finn healthy and seeing the puck...just keep getting better and better every game...four points this weekend would be great...

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

I believe Bruno beat us 3 times last year - and in Ireland. So this is a grudge match for sure.

Loved GateRadio's use of the word "Anaconda" as a way to describe our defense (...or was it their defense) No matter....good description either way :)

Making an early case for ECAC goalie of the year....
