Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

With respect to our recruits, I have certainly been on record as questioning the talent level of our incoming forwards (although this year's d-man class looks pretty promising). But McKechney's performance in the AJHL playoffs has certainly caught my eye. He was 11th in AJHL regular season scoring which is solid, but he's been ridiculously good so far in the playoffs.

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

He is for second in AJHL playoff scoring (with his linemate, Parker Foo, who is alas going to play with his brother at Union).
His brother turned pro recently, so they won't be together at Union.

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

It was great to see Charlie Finn get the highest award at the Hockey Banquet. Also nice to see so many seniors moving on to tryouts with pro teams. There was no mention of captains for next season. Anyone know?

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

I don't know if we should be concerned but captains weren't announced in the post season banquet press release. This breaks with recent history. I don't know if they were named but not in the press release, seems odd

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

would agree with above comments...McKechney looks quite skilled...wouldn't mind having the Brooks Bandits migrate to Hamilton as well...

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

Yale did it.......Union did it......Harvard almost did it. Now it's our turn to step up. Hopefully the foundation is being laid for consistent success going forward by recruiting a number of solid classes.

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

Congrats to Jesse Winchester '08 for being named the new Head Coach for the Brockville Braves! (talk about a direct pipeline to Colgate) Also, the end of the year banquet did not happen this year. The team got together on their own with the coaches. The Captains have not been named because Jake, Tim and Brett were all away and the Coaches wanted their input. Jake is returning to campus today or tomorrow and Tim and Brett are already back. Stay tuned!

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

Congratulations to Tyson Spink '16 for being named the ECHL's Rookie of the Year!!

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

Last night in Game 1 of the AJHL Finals:

Brooks 9
Whitecourt 1

For Brooks, Vachon had two goals while McKechney pitched in a goal and an assist.

For Whitecourt, Quillan assisted on their only goal while Tschumi racked up 4 PIM.

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

I guess we're done with recruiting for next year, five forwards and three dmen coming in. Schools like q-Pac and Cornell and Clarkson have about fifteen.

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

Brooks Bandits update: three more assists for Josh McKeckney last night...Vachon also contributing a nice assist...wonder if Vachon is coming in 2018 or 2019???

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

McKechney also ended up being the leading league scorer in the AJHL playoffs.

We may have something there.

Re: Colgate 2016-17 A New Beginning

Am an Omaha season ticket holder who is moving back to upstate NY late this month.
I would like to get Colgate season ticket, but I will likely be living in owego, NY.
Do any other season ticket holder s live in the southern tier?
