Re: Colgate 2014-15

red, PWR watch began a looooooong time ago. I was sure SCSU would be out this weekend but they swept UNO on the road and are now 11th in the PWR. If they lose their next game they are automatically out with an under .500 record but if they they win and then lose I bet they are in for sure. We are also looking for Union to pull a huge upset tomorrow. I can't remember who posted earlier about being stunned to not see Quinny make it at 10th just 2-3 weeks ago but it looks like they will not make the tourney if they lose tomorrow as they are tied at 15th with colgate. Amazing to think a team who went 16-3-3 in the reg season and won the reg season ECAC champ couldn't make the tourney. Really shows just how important the OOC record truly is (only a 5-6-1 record for Q, and overall not very good for the ECAC in general).

Either way we are playing yale, harvard or Quinny next and as stated earlier if we get one win we are most likely in. As a finally healthy team this is a real threat even if they make it as 4 seed.

Or SLU also.

Re: Colgate 2014-15

#1 vs #4 early then #2 vs #3 @ 7 I believe. The extra 3 hours between games is supposed to be an advantage sat night for the #1 team seeding.

Re: Colgate 2014-15

Last night was like a Shakesperrian play in three acts: 1) I thought we dominated; 2) They dominated and we looked like we sat on our lead: 3) Pretty even but we managed to put one by Kruger. Extra man on the ice penalty?....geez...that just should not happen in a game that is for all the marbles, especially in the last couple of minutes. Last few ticks of the clock were like the Perils of Pauline.

Dartmouth really stepped it up a notch after the first period. Was very impressed by their speed and play making. Have to give props to Tyler Sikura, their senior engine. What a great player. Just watching him all over the ice was amazing. (Of course I was mainly watching our players..LOL)

How about that QU-Onion series?!? The National Champions just won't go easily....Can they make LP again?

Re: Colgate 2014-15

How are the Lake Placid games seeded? Trying to determine the chance of Gate having the 4:00 slot vs 7:00.

Teams are re-seeded based on their regular season records. This is the first instance where we advance to the semifinals and we don't know our opponent yet. We will play Quinnipiac, St. Lawrence, Yale, or Harvard. We will not play Union, because they are the lowest remaining seed. If they win, they would play SLU in the 4 PM timeslot. As for me, I prefer the later timeslot, as I will be traveling out to Lake Placid on Friday morning and don't want to have to rush my drive up. Here are the possible permutations of our game time and opponent:

Quinnipiac and Yale both win: we play Q at 4 PM.
Quinnipiac and Harvard both win: we play SLU at 7:30 PM.
Union and Yale both win: we play Yale at 7:30 PM.
Union and Harvard both win: we play Harvard at 7:30 PM. Additionally, we would be the home team, wear our white jerseys, and have the last change.

Re: Colgate 2014-15

"PWR Watch" has officially commenced for us. USCHO will roll out its Pairwise Predictor tool tomorrow, once all the semifinal matchups are set. Until then, there are SEVEN Game 3's across the college hockey world this afternoon & evening. All 7 games will have implications on Colgate's PWR position. So without further ado, I present to you the following outcomes that we desire, in order from highest to lowest priority:

Union over Quinnipiac
Yale over Harvard
Providence over UNH
Western Michigan over Miami
Mercyhurst over Bentley
Notre Dame over Mass Lowell
Boston College over Vermont

Union knocking off Quinnipiac is crucial, because it will guarantee that we jump ahead of them in the PWR (right now we're tied for 15th with the Bobcats). Ironically, in Hockey East, we want the Catholic schools to triumph over the state schools. If Lowell and Vermont win, they won't catch us, but if they lose, their seasons will end, and they won't have any opportunities to pass us.

Re: Colgate 2014-15

I'd take SLU over harvard just based on our performance, obviously not a fan of Q or Yale either, but I am not going to "hope for any seed" except not to play harvard

Re: Colgate 2014-15

Well QU pulled it out, so the choices of opponents shrinks to QU or Harvard. We will definitely have to win one game to have a chance

Re: Colgate 2014-15

Good luck at Lake Placid .... it seems like over the past few years you were alwasy at the tournament. Hope you make it to Boston !!!! At full strength there is no team that you cannot beat !!!!

Actually I think the #1 seed gets to choose which start time. They almost always take the early start so that they don't have to worry about a game ahead of them going to OT... at least that's what I've been told.

Good luck in Placid. If the current score in New Haven holds up we'll see you Friday at 4:30! ;)
