Re: Colgate 2014-15
Some thoughts (not deep): My video was not good in the first period; players were "jumpy" on the screen and picture hard to watch. Then the last 2 periods it cleared up. Anyone else have this problem? Announcers were OK but by the end of the game I was tiring of Sonny. Thought they gave our team and DV some good props though.
This seemed to be a game of many games. First period, all PIM by us, we were constantly clogged up in our end by the PC forechecking, seemed like we just couldn't get started (what else is new?). Second period we woke up and had several PP opportunities we couldn't cash in on. I may be alone on this, but I seriously didn't think Gilles was interfered with on that Murphy non-goal. The replay showed he might have been "tapped" by one of our guys who was pushed into his skate as he went by. But is this actual interference? Looked very iffy to me.
Third period seemed pretty even to me, with mistakes on both sides. DV said the ice was chippy and slushy toward the end of the 3rd and that may have been the reason for Spink's drop pass that resulted in the PC goal. At times we were pressuring them pretty good, then PC would come back and apply the pressure to us. Kind of an even period to me, even though PC capitalized on more opportunities.
I guess this BU-PC set is equivalent to our "UMASS" weekend from last year. But remember what happened after that disaster? There is still time to make a run. Remember what position Yale and Union were in the last two years at this time when they won the NC. There is a lot of hockey to be played, we just need to buckle down in the second half and hope the addition of Tylor will spark our offense and that some of the frosh are getting more acclimated to the college game and can contribute even more.
