Re: Colgate 2009-2010

Only 25 hours to get your picks into the ECAC Pick The Playoffs. Remember, 7PM on Friday is the deadline. We have 61 contestants so far, 32 shy of last years total.

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

ColSkate65: certainly agree...and that's not all bad, although (and I think most everyone would agree) a little more passion, a little more loyalty, in general a little more intensity would be great. I remember the 2000 NCAA game against Michigan (I'm still bitter and rightfully so)...great student turnout, great game (that we really won)...maybe the beginning of a decade has some magic: 1970 (good season; screwed by ECAC Committee, probably influenced by Harkness, as SLU got #8 seed and not 'Gate despite the fact that we had a better ECAC record and beat Michigan Tech 9-4 in Chirstmas Tourney; for you younger folks we finished the season 14-7-3 and SLU was 11-14-0); 1980: make playoffs for FIRST time since 1970 - even as Billy McCreary "leaves" the 'Gate in midseason - as Terry's boys start to make their mark; 1990: 31-6-1 and #2 in country, lose to Wisconsin in finals because of my hernia going haywire after 3-2 win over BU in semis; 2000: the joy of Andy McDonald and the rest of the gang (disappointed in Red Berenson never giving us much credit for coming from a 3-0 deficit and actually WINNING in ot); 2010: despite being a cynical old fart I would love Don V to complement his regular season titles with a HUGE upset march to the NCAAs by winning in Albany. God do I love hockey...

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

I thought I had died that day. And every day thereafter for over a year. One has to wonder if that feat will ever be repeated during our lifetime. Not playing in Albany anymore may be the first step

Oh so close for Colgate.

Watched Andy, Shep, Murph, and all the boys that whole season, including the East Reg'ls. The wound is still fresh. We won that godforsaken game.

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

Just read ECACHL Writer,s forecast for this weekend. I must admit that Sully does a great job with his column's.

I would love to know his record this year with our team, and would also like to know where he see's our team now, as to where it was earlier in the season.
He is not a Colgate believer, or at least hasn't been for a while.

I don't want to jump on any band-wagon's early, however, I have seen this team from the start of the season having very big upswing, provided that the freshman and sophomore classes developed quick. Well these young players did, and hat's off to the coaching staff and some of the upperclassmen for assisting and mentoring the maturity of the younger players.

I believe this team is poised to do damage in the playoff's. We likely have a healthy roster, with some of our best players having played through and recovering from medical issue's throughout the entire season.

I saw one of the players recently and asked whom they would rather see next weekend, and they responded with, "It doesn;t matter".
I think this team is ready, having built confidence for some time, and the contributions are coming from numerous places on the roster.

The leaders are leading, your best players are healthy, and overall the entire squad is peaking at the right time.

" Beware of the calm before the storm", and "remain calm when in the storm".

Personally, I would like to see SLU in our barn.

But, as the player stated, "when you believe", "It doesn,t really matter."

We wish the players well, and wish our Senior's well, and hope you all leave on a winning note, and thank our Co-Captian's for there contributions to the Colgate program both on and off the Ice.

Shabby, Are you really " The Man "

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

Doghok...Great positive post...I love it ! It is "The most wonderful time of the year" and "A great day for hockey" !!

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

Good rundown doghok.

If seeds #5 thru 8 lose this weekend (fat chance) wouldn't we play Harvard?..

I don't really care who we play as long as the remaining teams beat up each other and come to Hamilton tired out..:)

Yes. 4 upsets and we play Haahvaahd.

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

Bump back to Page 1

If SLU wins tonight, we get the Saints

If Clarkson wins....
AND RPI wins, we get the Engineers
AND Brown AND Quinnipiac win, we get the Bobcats
AND Brown AND Dartmouth win, we get the Crimson

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

Thoughts: Impressive series for the Crimson going into Hobey Baker and taking two straight from Princeton.

Sean Backman is evidentally done for the year at Yale due to a foot injury in practice. Will be interesting to see what effect this has on the Eli's run in the playoffs...

North Country series is about what one would figure: two OT games - one win for each team. Appleton should be rocking tonight.

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

Hey Red Raider fans, SLU survived the NC battle - Look forward to another battle next weekend, should be good. Win/Lose will be looking forward to Nichols and Beal:D !

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

SLU it is. Mike Mckenzie scores the winner with just over a minute left in the third.
Three hard fought games between Clarkson and SLU, with SLU being one of the only teams we lost both to this year.
Lookin forward to Gate hockey on Friday, and we should be well rested, and anticipate a highly motivated opponent showing up next weekend.

Lets be ready !!

It's going to be tough to top the intensity of this weekend. SLU will need to get plenty of rest and do their best to keep their energy up. Colgate's got some guys who will make us pay if we're flat.

Looking forward to another weekend (or so) of hockey!

Re: Colgate 2009-2010

March? Why, it must be time for SLU to visit

5 times in 8 seasons, 4 of them at our friendly confines

2 close losses this year. Looking forward to turning the tables this weekend

Last win over St. Lawrence was in Game Three of the 2007-2008 ECAC first round series at Starr Rink. Colgate won the second and third games to take the series, 2-1, after putting up a stinker in the opener. Also that season, Colgate won five of six overall meetings in a season series that included two ECAC contests, a Governor's Cup semifinal game in Albany and three playoff games.

SLU's won four straight over Colgate though both games this season were much closer than the two last year.

BTW, nice article on the Colgate web site about Mark Dekanich being named the AHL Goalie of the Month for February.

I almost feel like we're playing against friends(let's not get carried away ). SLU posters are classy...I've talked to Marsh, Wally, and assistants at the Colgate Inn between playoff games before. This should be a tremendous series. BTW....How about Harvard-Cornell upcoming...Wow !!

You guys really worry me....I hope it doesn't go three games...I can't take it. We do owe you though after the McKenzie off his skate OT goal in Hamilton, those two points put us behind the 8-ball for fourth place for over a month. The first game in Canton I believe was 0-0 halfway thru the third.

Weather report is up...50 degrees next weekend...can't wait !!
