Coaching vacancies 2012

Re: Coaching vacancies 2012

Still no news from Amherst. They announced a new women's XC/track and field hire yesterday, but nothing on the women's hockey front?

Re: Coaching vacancies 2012

Also heard that former Niagara head coach, Josh Sciba, has landed at Colgate as assistant for upcoming season.

So Dean Jackson is a pretty severe looking guy (makes Fargo look friendly!). Anybody have any insight into how he treats players and his coaching style? Coaching girls/women is a lot different than coaching boys/men and I've seen some serious flame-outs in these transitions before (as well as successes).

Dean is a good guy. He should do well coaching the women's team IMHO.

Have heard from a couple of knowledgeable folks that Assistant Coach Tracy Johnson will be named interim head coach for the upcoming season. She is young, but have heard some good things about her. Sounds like a situation similar to Carson Duggan at Trinity last season after Andy McPhee left. Win and you're in.....worked for Duggan!!

You may well be correct, but I would be shocked if Amherst goes this route. The position must be regarded as one of the plum coaching spots in all DIII, Coach Plumer did not blindside them and left in a classy fashion, allowing ample time for finding a successor and both men's and women's hockey programs are on an impressive run. No disrespect intended toward Coach Johnson, but an interim solution would be a set back for women's DIII and a disappointing legacy for Coach Plumer's elevation of the Lord Jeff program.

Good luck to Josh Sciba, he is a class guy and I am sure will be seen back in a head coach position soon.
