I know these scores happen. It doesn't benefit either team. It may be more difficult to play with intensity when you are winning by a large margin. (And it is tough on the goalie)

I interpreted your comment to mean the blowouts were equally void of benefit for both the winner and loser. I would tend to agree with that. I'd also agree it would be difficult to maintain a high level of intensity when you're up by 10+ goals...which is the opinion I thought you tried to convey.

To me, it didn't appear you suggested it was harder for the winning team in these one sided games.

To KyleHockey....Thanks for the public spanking. I tried to keep my post to a couple of sentences. I edited "completely demoralizing" to "tough" and took out the adjective "losing". Please don't assume I was posting from the standpoint of the winner.

no problem. If I misunderstood then I apologize. I realize that both teams take very little from blowouts. However, I believe the winning team can learn humility and compassion from these games. Based on your writing, you were writing from the standpoint of the team winning. Rant over. I have been on the winning and losing sides of these games both as a player and as a coach. It is MUCH harder on the losing side than on the winning side.

Really excited to watch Bolden at BC this year.

She's been my favorite BC player since the day she committed. She will have an immediate impact for the Eagles, both defensively and offensively, and has the potential to be the 2nd best ever BC recruit behind Schuas. No pressure or anything though.


Regarding the scores, it happens every year, like Ice said. Shouldn't really be a surprise to anyone. IIRC it was last year, or the year before that Ammerman and Sanders walked away with at least 20 goals each. And they weren't the only ones.

Even so. Saw them (The Ammermans) play this morning in the playoffs, and they were still leading the charge on the scoreboard against the Global Selects, not exactly a mickey mouse team.

Overall saw some great games between some of the better teams. Sunday was worth the price of admission.

Agree completely! There was some great hockey between Saturday and Sunday. Team Celine, with a mix of current and soon to be Harvard players, and some younger prospects that any college team would be happy to sign, put up a great fight against eventual tourney winners, Niagara Vipers, in a game that was decided in OT.

The Championship game, NAHA vs the Vipers, was most enjoyable in that BC's top fans, Tony and Joe (minus the bookbound Vell), Papa Restuccia and I joined forces to cheer for NAHA, whose roster included both Eagles and Wildcats!

Britt Skudder, in her first games after redshirting at UNH last year recovering from injury, notched 5g and 5a on the weekend. She and a future 'Cat lit the lamp in the 4 - 3 loss.

Congrats to the Vipers. They had some incredible talent, and were obviously a well-oiled machine!

New England proam is making a fortune! Reaching into the pockets of parents for $30 to watch your daughter is unheard of. I also heard they were charging the scouts. Lets do the math.
72 teams @ $1600 per = $115,200 in entry fees alone. Ice fees:
15 hours a day x 2 sheets @ $250 an hr is $7500. 3 rinks (not as many hrs at all 3 rinks) but lets say it is, $22,500 per day. $45,000 for 2 days (on the high side to say the least). Sunday is $5000 maybe. Refs: 108 games (both divisions) for 2 days @$75 per ref per game. $16,200. Sunday refs $2100.

Ice fees: $50,000 (on the high side I would say)
Refs: $18,300
Sub total:$68,300

Lets say every team had 8 paying fans. 72 teams x $80= $5760 x 2 days = $11,520. Sunday estimate 200 people another $2000.
sub total: $13,520 at the gate.
Total fees:
gate and team entry's: $128720
ice: $50,000
Refs: $18,300
dif $60,420
$60,420 to pay score keepers pay for programs ect.
NOT A BAD WEEKEND

The worst part of all that you mentioned are the REFS.
Horrendous! You might as well just put two mannequins out there dressed in black and white. The problem is that players get hurt when the refs don't
use their whistle.

I'm not so concerned about admission for college coaches because I'm sure that most of them are reimbursed and they are using this tournament to get some names, schmooze with other coaches and compare notes.

Paying money for the program is a bit of a waste though. There are a number of "last minute" changes and entrants that never make it into the program. Some of the better participant coaches will put together at least a page of the current roster while others go the extra mile and put together a booklet with complete player profiles.

If you are a player looking to be recruited, you should have emailed prospective coaches your schedule. If you're already part of a college team, you're just there to play hockey, have some fun, collect more Facebook friends and reconnect with former teammates.

Let's not make more of this tournament then it really is.... and yes, there is money to be made from hockey but without commercial viability, there is no tournament. I doubt that we will ever see TARP money (HARP?) to reimburse a tournament loss.

I agree Hux. I paid 10 bucks to see one game. It was worth the price of admission good game, however I was lucky I didn't have a family to pay for. These people pay for the tournament, the hotels, food, etc. then have to pay in some cases 50 bucks a day to watch their kids play. Highway robbery!

I thought the $10 all-arenas pass was a nice touch. Would rather it be down to $8 or something, but $10 to watch as many games as you want all day isn't too bad.

Two years ago when it was $7 per session and $21 if you wound up hitting all three - that was ridiculous.

Not sure, but since she was in attendance on Sunday, it would have been nice had she been on the ice to present the trophies to individuals and teams

It was $10 a day, all day pass to all arenas, and on Sunday when I went to watch the first game, involving Team Celine, they had it marked down to $5. Not that I was thrilled about paying at all. At least I got to see more than 15 games over the two days I was there, so at least I feel like I got my $$ worth

Angela went on the ice for pictures with the A division winners.

Saw M. Joyce on Saturday at Irorio working for Bauer. She had some sticks the players could try out. She set my D up and could not have been nicer.
My D ended up scoring two goals with the borrowed One 95 so I guess we'll be buying some.
