Chowder Cup: Any decent prospects?

Re: Chowder Cup: Any decent prospects?

I'm probably going to head down Friday (with study materials in hand for between games) to check out the Global Hockey Selects team that has the three incoming freshmen (Motherwell, Bolden, and Walsh). Assuming that I can get my morning patient taken care of and out on time... Anyone else going?

Re: Chowder Cup: Any decent prospects?

Pre-tournament scrimmage tonight in Rockland.....Global Selects vs. Minnesota

GREAT GAME! Physical, high speed, and to think this was only a warm up for the weekend.

Global wins 3-0, scoring one goal in each period. As strong a club as Global seems to be, Minnesota was nearly as strong.

Vell, look for the cigar smoking tailgater in the parking lot before Global's second game. I'll be glad to say hello!

Re: Chowder Cup: Any decent prospects?

I have found that you have to start with the home page http://www.proamhockey.com/. Intermediate links don't work. Click on the link that says LEAGUE STAT which is on the left below the 2009 Women's CC. Then the other links work.

Re: Chowder Cup: Any decent prospects?

some scary scores, 20-0 and 14-2, yikes

I know these scores happen. It doesn't benefit either team. It may be more difficult to play with intensity when you are winning by a large margin. (And it is tough on the goalie)

please don't EVER say it is harder for the winning team than on he losing team in a blowout, you must be kidding me. Dump the puck in, change and rest up for your next game by keeping the clock moving. So what a goalie has to stand at one end, get over yourself. Have you no compassion or sympathy?

Agreed- I don't have access to the scores right now but ,can probably make an educated guess who is running them up.

Any thoughts on why goal differential should never be a tie breaker?

Re: Chowder Cup: Any decent prospects?

It looks to me like there are a couple of teams that may be in the wrong division.

Re: Chowder Cup: Any decent prospects?

has happened before, will happen again.

sucks for both teams.

As for it hyrting the winning team, I couldn't imagine as a parent how it must feel to spend a couple of thousand dlooars to bring the family to a hockey tournament and see the team win 20-0.

I'd be ****ed, even on the winning end.

being p***ed about the money is one thing, saying it is harder for the winning team in a blowout is another. There is always a lesson to be learned through humility.

Re: Chowder Cup: Any decent prospects?

Ouch. Went down to watch a couple of games at Canton today. Global Hockey Selects, which has a heavily loaded roster, got shut down against Yankee Conference Stars. I was very surprised.

Also noticed that a few former BC players were coaching that squad (Spillane, Fardelmann) as well as Schaus.

Vell, that game was a 4-4 tie! No one got shut down.

Re: Chowder Cup: Any decent prospects?

Doh! I thought they were only playing 25 minutes per game. Had to run anyway b/c I had to get back down to studying... wish this event hadn't been the weekend during finals.

I was still surprised that they were down 2-0 at the half. It was almost 3-0 except that Bolden, with a delayed penalty being held against her, caught a puck in the crease that was falling into the net.

Re: Chowder Cup: Any decent prospects?

To KyleHockey....Thanks for the public spanking. I tried to keep my post to a couple of sentences. I edited "completely demoralizing" to "tough" and took out the adjective "losing". Please don't assume I was posting from the standpoint of the winner.
