CCHA v2.0 - BGSU FSU LSSU MTU NMU w/ BSU MSU & Special Guests - The Tommies

Nothing is in it for them. It's not a move anyone would support at face value. I wasn't advocating for this scenario, only pointing out that if you think about it Mankato has more value to the Nachos than Miami State does.

I don't think anyone wants Mankato to leave, but I'm curious if Mankato still covets a move to the Nachos.

I don't have any idea what the people in authority think, but I can't think we're strongly wanting out. We can still schedule the schools that our fans want to see (UMD, SCSU, MN, an occasional UND, UNO, or an Eastern team) without having to play CC or Denver or Miami, schools that really wouldn't produce revenue or fan interest. We've also found out that we can have a national footprint and a chance to compete for the big prize without being in the NCHC. Is there slightly less margin for error? Yeah, and we're likely out of the running for high draft picks, but there's more than one way to be competitive.

Is there any chance that they make new conference. Basically a new CHA (college hockey America)
Alaska
Alaska Anchorage
Alabama Huntsville
Augustana
Linwood
Long Island

this conference would get an autobid. Travel would be a nightmare thou.

And ASU?
and you are assuming that Huntsville is still viable.

Travel costs would/could kill that conference and they would have the same issues that the oCHA had.

Actually UAA, UAF and UAH would insist that all the other newbie members pay them travel subsidies as payback for all the money they spent in the old CCHA / WCHA conferences. Then ASU eventually thinks they are too good for the CHA 2.0 and leaves to create the ICHC (International Collegiate Hockey Conference) to one-up the Nachos that snubbed them. The conference is comprised of members ASU and Simon Fraser who play a 30 game conference schedule, just so it can be home/road unbalanced 14/16 to give the fans something to complain about right out of the gate and overlook the insane travel. The ICHC would of course be a "bus league" just to make it really interesting. Their remaining non-conference / exhibition games would be scheduled against the Coyotes who conveniently play in the same building as ASU.
Feel free to repost this on 4/1.

Ha! Entertaining! Who knows, anything is possible as we've seen with Coyotes about to play in the new ASU barn.

Here are some random thoughts. I see where some east coast good goalie is entering the portal. I'm betting UND picks him up.

Second the NCHC is whining about not enough guys in the hobey. So I guess their one is not enough. they need two or three. Well be better than the guys who are in, which they are not.

Regionals on the home site of the number 1 seed. Half of college hockey would not qualify, another part is that a number of rinks are olympic size, a big advantage if you are hosting, and four, let's say i'm Mankato, can I ask the rink to hold open the date until I know i'm a number one? Then I turn out to be a number two, who covers the financial loss there? They don't own the rink. This has been hashed over ad nauseam in this forum every year the last few.

The Hobey complaint is legit, I suppose. Attard is incredible, and Frank led the nation in goals, but when Cuglietta led the nation in goals a few years ago, no one was crying about the WCHA not getting the recognition it deserved. And after seeing McKay robbed of the Richter twice, I'm feeling less than magnanimous towards other conferences on these postseason awards.

I am assuming ASU joins the big ten this summer or NCHC. They have a nice new arena.

@lost husky I assume the travel would be biggest factor against this conference. I wonder how long these program can stay a float with no conference

As long as the administration feels there is value there. Inciteful I know. ;)

As much as I'd prefer ASU join CCHA or NCHC I suspect it will join the B10. Especially being that Kevin Warren, a former ASU graduate, is the commissioner of the conference and the loose alliance, for lack of better words, between PAC & B10 going back a hundred years. Regardless, any conference affiliation that ASU looks at will have to somehow deal with the PAC 12 broadcast rights to all ASU home games.

After a really good first season, what a disaster to end it.

This debacle totally hosed my Pick 'Em contest. I should have waited until tomorrow to post the final results. What a cluster.

People in Columbus are increasing their freak out level.

Edit: Scratch the tOSU freak out, Hahvahd won so the Buckeyes are out. Northeastern is now on freak out watch.

Per the College Hockey Insider, Northern Michigan secured commitments from two transfer portal players.

Former RPI defenseman Simon Kjellberg, who committed to Northern Michigan. Kjellberg, a New York Rangers draft pick who had nine goals and 18 assists & has 2 years of eligibility remaining.

Northern also added former UConn forward Artem Shlaine, a New Jersey Devils draft pick. Shlaine had 17 points (7g, 10a) in 36 games this season and has 3 years of eligibility left.

Kjellberg is a great get, one of the best available defensemen in the portal.
