UST was a good addition. Major market within the footprint of the conference and a school that is known for spending money on sports. LU and AU are big unknowns outside of the CCHA's footprint. Why not let them be independent for 4 years, with a scheduling agreement and see how they would fit.

Someone had to place some money somewhere or there are additional movements happening in the next few years that the CCHA is trying to get in front of.

Two questions:
1) Was the league vote unanimous?
2) Are travel subsidies involved?

If #2 is yes, then I'd guess #1 would be yes as well, though, while that helps BG and Ferris, I'd think a Soo to Sioux Falls (see what I did there?) trip would still suck.

BSU and MNSU play AU (which has less than 2,000 students) in other sports... so there is that too.

a trip to AU from LSSU, FSU, or BGSU will take all about the same time; ~12 bus-hours.

i am not opposed to adding AU... but waiting one more season would have been better i think.

a 10 team, two regions conference can work fine. but i am not sure that LU would be the team to make it 10... WMU would be great.

it all just feels way like the same crap from the WCHA... just no AK schools.

i would like to understand the reasoning, from the horse's mouth, behind this 9th team - extremely highly doubtful it was a unanimous vote.

Yeah, I'd like to see the program establish itself, draw at least decent crowds (2000+, anyway), before we take them on as members. Given their location, they should be able to pick up games fairly easily as independents. Can't we wait and see how that works out first?
 
I don't think this was a good idea, but then again when does fan input have anything to do with what they do? I've been to Sioux falls a number of times. it's ok, except for the smell.

How so? I watch Flo pretty much year round, and very very rarely have a problem. Some things could be executed better (more details when events are weather delayed for example), but overall the picture quality is usually on par with broadcast TV.

Yeah, I've had no major problems. There were a couple of CCHA arenas where the audio and the video were a little out of sync, but it was definitely just those, because I could change to other games and have no problem, and it was always the same couple. I can't remember which ones off the top of my head.
