CCHA teams will join WCHA

Re: CCHA teams will join WCHA

And you're not in the BHHC thread posting this because ... ?

**** and GTFO are my 2nd and 3rd official acronyms now.

Re: CCHA teams will join WCHA

I said this when this video came out (and am saying it as someone whol LIKES George), but listen to Gwoz' comments at the 4:57 mark:

"...other schools in other leagues can compete at their level" (Gwoz's emphasis - not mine)...

That comments exemplifies the arrogance of the NCHC. That one quote is all you need to know about why folks are ticked about the NCHC schools attitude in this whole matter.

Incredible? Quite the choice of adjective there. Perhaps you could briefly detail or provide some example of the travel costs that BGSU is suddenly going to have that are over and above what they have now? The trip to Mankato or Bemidji versus one to Ann Arbor or Lansing is certainly longer and cost them a few bucks more. But otherwise, I don't see it.

Bowling Green is trading two teams in Ohio, two in Michigan and one in Indiana for one in the Yoop, three in Minnesota and another in Alaska. Unless travel is free, they are going to see costs go up.

Perhaps. But with two divisions they will presumably only travel to two of the "western" schools each season.

12 teams - 28 games - 2 Divisions

Play every team in your division four times = 20 games

Play 8 games [four home, four away] against the other division.

OR

10 Teams - 28 games -2 Divisions

Play every team in your division four times = 16 games

Play every team in the other division twice [6 home, 6 away] = 12 games

Their other options were to pick up New York and Pennsylvania (and Alabama?) teams, and sell teams in Michigan on that idea. Their costs were going up regardless.

Re: CCHA teams will join WCHA

I hate when people say the CCHA should have added UAH, now the NCHC is saying that the WCHA/CCHA should scoop them up, its easier said than done. I have nothing against UAH, but budget wise it doesn't make sense.

Travel to western PA and upstate NY is a lot closer and easier than travel to Minnesota, even for teams in Michigan. They can't drive a bus across Lake Michigan.

Jesus ****in Christ - NO ONE IS CALLING IT THE NATIONAL. You sound like a moron...
I could of sworn I heard the Athletic Director of North Dakota calling it "The National" during the press conference in Colorado Springs. Now if you want to call him a "moron" those are your words not mine.

Brad Faison IS a moron. Legit.

DG,
With which part of not being wanted in this thread are you having difficulty?

Seriously, you have zero standing of any sort to comment on this issue. You're lame trolling makes you look like you are 80 and just discovered the internet. You (in particular) wanted rid of the schools who's fans are discussing this. So for once in your miserable fat existence do something with some integrity and leave this thread.

Others,
I can only suggest that if you feel the same way you indicate so through the reputation system.

Re: CCHA teams will join WCHA

Terrible news for Alabama-Huntsville.

Screw the college hockey "community."

Screw Malcolm Portera

Screw EJ Brophy

Screw David Williams

And screw God for taking from us the only man left on the planet with the power and the passion to fight for UAH hockey.

Hell, they're gerrymandering the board of trustees to get rid of Joe Ritch, the last man left. What else is there to talk about?

I'm convinced that this time next year UAH will be equal in stature to US International in the history of American college hockey, and regarded with equal lamentation as the Atlanta Thrashers.

Re: CCHA teams will join WCHA

Well, its good news for those of us in Laker Country. This is the core of a very nice league, with Tech, NMU, and LSSU all together along with UAF and UAA and Bemidji. I like that grouping. A nice, solid, North-country-centric hockey league.

And good to see the CCHA die a quick, much-needed death. It was a poorly run league which operated the season more as a PR campaign for MSU and UM.

Also nice to be disconnected from Detroit. Its a college-hockey sink hole filled with Walmart Wolverines. (Of course, in the interest of full disclosure, my Lakers haven't given us much reason to drive over the Bridge for the CCHA finals in, oh, a few years -- but thats besides the point).

And I really don't quite understand the wringing of hands in worry. The Big Ten schools spit on us, declared themselves too improtant to play with the other "lesser state schools," and blasted college hockey's landscape into bits. The NCHC schools made the next move, similar in spirit to the Big Ten's cynical cash-grab (but at least the NCHC boys appear to have shaken the absurd pretext that it was for anything other than money). And those that were left are supposed to just cling to the rim of the bowl?

Nope, I think this is a good move for almost everyone. Sorry to UAH out in the cold. Don't really care if Mankato or SCSU feel like they are suddenly on the outer fringes of the WCHA. And not really concerned what anyone from the Big Ten or NCHC think about the move, since they have already stated their opinions in their cynical money grab.

So its good for my school, good for the other UP schools, and good for the Alaska schools. And thats good enough for me.
