CCHA teams will join WCHA

Re: CCHA teams will join WCHA

Agreed. UND/DU started their own party, sent out invites, and now has to invite the retarded kid so the party will be big enough to be "cool."
Especially since the hot redhead with the Green Eyes hasn't made up her mind about coming yet or staying home to wash her hair that night.

No, I checked. Those are mostly land routes. I was just giving you a hard time :p

And I didn't realize I-75 connects the Yoop with lower Michigan ;)
That would be the Mackinac Bridge. Five miles of steel and concrete 4 lanes wide and reaching up with the road deck being 200 feet above the water.

Re: CCHA teams will join WCHA

Since SCSU has been talked (as a long shot) to maybe get a last minute Prom invite if Notre Dame says they're busy that night, just curious what other fans and fan bases would think of SCSU wasn't a part of the new WCHA. I already know that Donald has voted us off the island. Others?

Wouldn't miss you guys. At this point the schools are very similar, there isn't that big name that stands out from the rest that if they leave "OMG what are we going to do now???" reactions happen.

Re: CCHA teams will join WCHA

as a Tech fan, I'd be happy to never, ever see St. Cloud again. NMU we'll welcome with open arms (one holding a club). Duluth we'll miss for sure.

Re: CCHA teams will join WCHA

Agreed. SCSU would be a far better fit than Bowling Green.
DG, I would wager that DU and Gwoz and the other NCHC teams don’t want SCSU to be in the NCHC or they would been picked to be there already. That being said the NCHC does need a perpetual loser/door mat team so maybe SCSU would be a good fit.

Warning this post should be considered satire... It was intended as a nice light shot across the bow, although there might be a thread of truth to this comment.

Didn't your president already turn down an invite to a league he was never invited to join?

Re: CCHA teams will join WCHA

The NCHC, on the other hand, seems to have gotten their feelings/pride hurt when they realized they were going to be left with the other "leftovers" in the WCHA. So DU and Sioux decided they wanted to feel good about themselves so they started their own little conference to make themselves feel more special and less left out.
Really so you think that's how it went down? So none of the other teams in the NCHC bear any of the blame? You don't think Dean Blais had some pull? Or maybe Miami and Blasi...

Re: CCHA teams will join WCHA

If SCSU gets in to the NCHC, it will be entertaining to witness the backpedaling of their fans and administration who claimed it was a bad idea and they never would accept an invitation. By several accounts, they are basically kicking and screaming to get in.
That is an awesome comment and true. I guess the first thing they would have to do is have their president rescind all of his buffoonish comments he made about the schools that are in the NCHC, but also he would have to back track on how there was no benefit to being in the league.

Hey don't pull us into this, we like playing the innocent little angels. :)

It really is going to be great watch this all play out. At least the Western fans have been honest in that saying while they are ****ed about how things have gone down, they would welcome an invite in a heartbeat. St. Cloud - this will be hilarious if they are the 8th team.

I know you are just trying to get a rise out of SCSU fans, but I thought I would post what I said on our message board last week. the stats below are for the WCHA teams moving to the NCHC. I was to lazy to look up what miami had done in that time frame.

"Here are some more stats. since the 1999-2000 season the list below is how many times NCHC teams have made the NCAA's. Keep in mind SCSU has made it 7 times in that time frame. The data is from USCHO.

CC = 7
DU = 7
UMD = 3
UND = 11
UNO = 2

Funny, sure in the hell looks like SCSU competes just fine... Again, the fact that they have choked many times over the years does not mean they haven't competed well and didn't have good teams. Stats can be used in many ways, but if you actually use them in a way that makes sense, funny how it changes things..... "

Re: CCHA teams will join WCHA

Nope. The Big Ten schools were doing whats best for college hockey and making room in 2 conferences for expansion and room for a team like UAH. Really, they should be commended for their actions.

NCHC on the other hand was just a couple of schools feeling like the little sisters and wanted to show they can be big boys too.
Wow!!!! I really hope you didn't stay up all night thinking up that quip!!!

Why? I can think the new league was a bad idea for college hockey and still want my team to join?:confused: The fact is if they were invited and didn't join we all know BSU, Westerm BGSU would, so why would a school say no and be left behind? \

Potter looks like a fool with his statement and from people I talked to he is on the hot seat over all this stuff. All he had to say was we were never invited and if the time comes that we are then we will deal with it. That is why within a couple days he had already taken back his statement. The boosters are mad and since we just got a 10 million donation last week for the remodel of the NHC I am sure he has changed his view.....

I always love how SCSU fans say that Miami and SCSU are equals when Miami has owned SCSU as of late... Miami has been to the Frozen Four, SCSU has not... All the aforementioned teams in your list have won NCAA games but UNO. As far as being on equal footing on spending money on your hockey program SCSU has not. Sure your school spent money on an adviser after the fact on an AD adviser, who happens to be a former Fighting Sioux hockey coach. From what the beat writers in the college hockey have said is that SCSU is on the outside looking in and has little chance of being in the NCHC, they have said they are basically a fall back.

Miami is a great program on the rise. There are many great programs that are on the cusp of breaking through barriers (UNH, etc). It's not easy. The best team does not always take home the National Title. (UND last year). That does not mean that these programs are not putting competitive teams on the ice.

Thanks for trying to fix my initial post but I had "sue" spelled correctly. I do not need your assistance with spelling. Especially with the mascot change coming, I need to enjoy using that name as long as I can. I appreciate your concern though.

And yes, that is how it went down. Sure, old Dean probably is probably to blame as well, but this all stemmed from DU and sue and their poor little puppy dog feelings getting hurt.

You have no idea what you're talking about... I doubt that this was driven "solely" by UND or DU. Maybe Miami didn't want to play in a depleted CCHA, maybe just maybe UMD didn't want to play with the other smaller schools in the WCHA? It's highly possible... Everyone assumes that it was all DU and UND's fault have you even stopped to maybe email one of the Beat writers from the teams that are going to be in the NCHC?

Miami is a great program on the rise and at least they can say they got to play in the championship game, the fans from an unmentioned school that have slammed Miami haven't had much luck against said school or have they been to the big dance (frozen four)...

My sources indicate that this was driven solely by UND and DU. It is all UND and DU's fault.

Re: CCHA teams will join WCHA

I'm sort of surprised that BGSU has taken so long to make a decision. There is a decent chance they are in discussions with the four AHA schools, UAH, and WMU about preserving the CCHA.

WMU and BGSU would be the top programs in the new conference. Which would give them better odds at making the NCAA tournament and making their programs more successful financially.

Honestly I do not see WMU making it into the NCHC. Notre Dame wants to have lots of non conference games and the only way that happens in the NCHC is if they stay at 7 teams so I doubt Notre Dame will feel compelled to bring WMU along for the ride.

With all that said though I am a realist and think that unfortunately BGSU will just end up in the WCHA and UAH will end up screwed.
